Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

How many are looking?

Just wondering, considering Southwestern has been going downhill for a while with no chance of righting the course with current management, how many of you are already looking for a new job?

I just started looking, but it occurred to me that I can't be the only one, and that the company could be in real trouble if everybody worth their salt was to up and leave suddenly.

I was laid off in 2016, sorry to offend anyone, but your a s---er if you trust management! Those employed still, get off ya'lls butts and start looking for employment elsewhere...SWN is not the same place it once was. I hear that talent is willingly walking out the door daily because they have found better employment opportunities, especially upper management, that's a huge red flad SWN will never be the same! Get out and leave while you can!

Hey guys. That’s a great idea. Let’s meet in the Market. Me and some of my millennial buddies will be in there. They have the best breakfast tacos! My wife’s boyfriend also thinks they’re great! See ya there!

It’s a go for this Thursday. I have it on good authority. I know I am toast so who wants to grab some beer and breakfast tacos after the “big” layoff. Same authority said packages same as 2016. Glad this bull$&@$ is done.

How come nobody knows when the layoff will happen? Hearing Thursday but we've heard that for week after week.

I don’t know anyone I’ll talked to thinks this is only -low end .. whatever that means ... something will happen with Fayetteville ... I imagine only 10-15% of those currrently working the Fayetteville, in the Houston office, will even have a chance to stay with southwestern ... I’m not really sure why it would be that many .

Also any cuts will have to be across ranks / whether it’s 10 percent or 40 percent

It may be better; it won’t be the same.

I've been looking, had an interview recently. People automatically assume that these layoffs will only impact those at the "low end". Sometimes the shot-callers look at the payroll spreadsheet and start cutting people that have a larger salary next to their name. Often times that means people that have been around the longest or have received more performance raises than others. Remember, the goal of this layoff is to reduce operating expenses and increase the share price. That's hard to do if you just cut people from the low end that are earning less.

If Way still around, keep looking. If Way leaves, then may be safe to slow the search and buy alot of stock for the coming run.

It's really that simple - look at Way's track record. Destroyer of value!

There has been a pretty steady attrition rate since the last quarterly call. About 4-5 per week on average in Houston alone since may. Many of them pretty influential players. That would have to tell you something. You arent the only one looking. And may others are landing good jobs and making the jump not waiting on the inevitable.

I think you have to take care of yourself... money and sanity. It isn’t like swn will have to close down ; because no one will work there ... it’s a dynamic industry ; people - good and bad - will come and go.

However; the distribution has shifted down some, still great people here, still deadwood, and a bunch in the middle... it’s just as the company gets less interesting , the “best at swn” become a little less so , the middle is a little slower and there has to be constant cleaning out of the low end, that becomes even more obviously incompetent ...

Who can blame you, it's managements fault for leaving employees with so many unknowns. I've started, wish you the best of luck. Remember they created this mess!
