Well if it's about H1Bs (Indians or others) then you all should unite and get into law making process of the government for H1B/ be a senator/congressman yourself or work with your local representative to change the law. Why do you want to abuse the law abiding, policy following H1Bs / Indians or chinese or others. It is legal to hire H1Bs and the company is doing the same. If you have a problem then stop it from the root. Change the law. The H1B folks have not done anything wrong to you personally. If you think they have taken American jobs then sue the company or the team. .The current administration is the best bet against H1B abuse. What's stopping you?

Because they just work. They don’t have a life. You go home to have dinner and spend time with your family and they log in and work at night. They will step on your toes like they are fighting to do YOUR job. They don’t respect roles and responsibilities.

Are you an idiot? Do you have the basic common sense, how many Chinese and Canadians are working in Q compared with Indians????? 15% vs 85% means close to you??????

I’m part of sever group that was just cut in half. While we waited for the ax to drop, many of us U.S citizens with more experience applied for dozens of jobs all over the country only to get no response.

The younger less experienced H1B guys on the other hand were all able to line up multiple offers in multiple states so many volunteered for severance. A few mentioned the pay they were offered was significantly less, even in areas with higher cost of living. They didn’t want to risk loosing their work visa though, so they felt compelled to accept a lower paying job. They didn’t want to risk being cut with nothing lined up due to time it takes to get work visa transferred.

Being passed over for a job s---s but I honestly feel bad for the H1Bs as well. They are being taken advantage of as they must work for less (and long hours) or else they risk being deported. Corporate greed s---s for everyone regardless of skin color or country of origin.

The only silver lining in all this was that my team had a lot of volunteers for severance, so most of us without anything else lined up were able to stay. Unfortunately This is only a temporary reprieve. Once the half of us left are done transferring everything we built to China / HXT, we know for certain we will be looking for jobs again. The best we can do now is step in to all the vacant roles and learn anything and everything we can to broaden our skill sets and help our future prospects.

We should blame ourselves. All the leaders at the company are Americans and looks like they hate their country men/women.

If you are American and have been recently laid off, you are being replaced by Indians H1Bs.

I completely disagree. It's not just Indians, it's Chinese, Canadians (T-1), etc. Qualcomm does not discriminate among H1Bs as an employer - they accept all kinds of H1Bs!
