Any risk in giving more than 2 week notice?

Any risk in giving more than 2 week notice (say 3 weeks) ? I want to give enough time for someone to ramp up with my work before leaving and also stop taking on additional new responsibilities which my manager seems keen on giving me .

Can I be asked to walk out or go home without pay or something?

Why would you want to give any more notice to a company that doesn't give a f--- about you?

Giving more than two weeks is just asking to be taken advantage of. Spend that extra week at the beach!

The company has shown little respect to its employees, why give three weeks! Give two and focus on taking time for yourself.

If someone can ramp up to do your job within two weeks, then you must be a janitor.

rehiring with the same manager is very rare - when an employee leaves on their own its an automatic red mark against a managers review. At some level it is the employee firing the company.

So you can do the decent thing (we will all meet god for our day of judgement) and give 3 weeks but just be prepared to get walked (take your personal stuff home beforehand so its quick and easy on you) - not a lot of managers will do the decent thing in return in my experience - not a lot will even do the decent thing and box up your personal stuff and send it to you even - they'll just dispose of everything and claim they didn't realize it was yours. These days the only guys I see not getting walked are retirees or those obviously changing into something that is different.

What you should be asking yourself is, do you want to leave on good terms with the company with hopes of coming back someday or not? If you have no intention of coming back, then no notice is needed and you can walk in one day and just quit.
