California and the majority of states do not require extra pay for holidays unless you have a contractual agreement with your employer.

Not necessarly. Holiday pay may only be federal holdiays not religious holidays and I do believe as long as they give you some incentive they meet the requirements. So the new $2.00 more per hour for holiday pay instead of time and a half may be legal. I am pretty sure SHC has lawyers who check and recheck this and make sure they are legal in all states. Or they are taking a risk and hoping that no one will file a suit against them. Already cut vacation time from almost 1 hour per pay period to 6 minutes per pay period.

If your state requires it, you will. Massachusetts does for a handful of holidays. I wouldn't be surprised if California has something too.

Check your state's rules re holiday pay and make certain you get your due.
