Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

PTC - goodbye culture!

So home office, do you really think the managers are going to deal with crying associates on a daily basis? Associates who are going through divorces, losing homes, losing loved ones who just need someone at work to listen for a minute? Are they going to sit down and reason with them when they think their manager or team lead is out to get them? Are they going to take the time to look up policies or explain their insurance coverage to them?? This is where you have shown you truly have no clue what is going on in these clubs. PTC’s are the middle man, the one who calms angry associates down, the ones who deal with all the little things so managers aren’t tied up all day with it. There is going to be no respect for the individual left! No family atmosphere! The managers are busy managing buildings! The team leaders are busy running the floor! You truly have no idea how this works do you! No, I’m not saying they are above anyone else or deserve more than the next associate. I’m saying this is a position that is truly needed. Good luck to you all! My managers can’t even do a time adjustment!! I will be fine, but I truly worry for the associates that I leave behind.

This is true the Axe has dropped 2/5/2019 @ 3:00 p.m.. PTC's were informed positions have been eliminated, they have till March 29 to secure a position or leave the company. Sad day at Sam's club. Most PTC's are the heart of the club's.

Just curious, what did the ptc’s think of the call today? Are you convinced?

Good lord, another angry receiving clerk. You are on the wrong thread!

To 6baf, you're a real idiot. For one, I don't sit talking to anyone for three hours. I've always handled Alot of jobs that aren't even mine. We have had useless ptc's in years past. All they wanted to do was decorate the break room and go to lunch with managers because they were all kiss a##es. Didn't know anything about Aflac when we first had it available. Or anything about time off, etc. Notice I say some, not all, just like receiving clerks. It's really ignorant to group them all together. There are useless associates in other departments and I'm pretty sure you're one of them. 😂

To 8n11. No I’m not 50 I’m 48. Your math skills are off and mine are superb! Yes I did find a job to start over and enjoy it more than retail. My years of experience and training made for a great resume to be hired immediately.

Could be in early 40’s if started at 18. Good age .

That was ugly no one needs reminders of their age. And at 50 he/she can still get a damn good job if they want.

To7wgv- I think that the PTC’s are smart enough to know about the taxes on a severance check and will not be shocked! If anyone is interested, my severance check was 26,000 gross and 14,000 net pay. (Ohio). Other states may vary just saying the exact amount that I received. Best wishes to everyone!

Thought th e company would take better care of associates well no way my manager has been keeping me out f the loop on 'll restructure only need to know basis writing on the wall I am 25 year associate they c a n pay me 26000 in severance just waiting for my Christmas gift september

That’s probably because PTCs do more work than the receiving clerks do after their initial work is done. Our PTC is always doing something and if nothing to do they help COS. Receiving has nothing to do they sit in the office talking for 3 hours...

To the comments about the ptc's being so much more "professional" and "positive " about the possibility of losing their position unlike the receiving clerk. Perhaps that's because no one came on and bashed the ptc's and said they were worthless and didn't do anything. I've been here 29 years and I've seen my share of good AND bad ptc's. Believe me if someone got on here and slammed the ptc's, there would be plenty of "bashing and talking crap."

There is a name for it "People modernization", thats how I found out.

someone posted a flyer in my break room.

I love my PTC. Sad day in September.

Our PTC is the referee between the managers and the associates. First impression for new hires which I think impacts retention and turnover rates.

Take PTC’s out of the equation and it will be the last straw for not just them but many more. I admire their class and professionalism, unlike the other positions acting like the company owes only them severance and a red carpet to walk out on. PTC’s are the backbone. I appreciate our’s for sure!

I agree. It’s so sad how they are rolling this new program out and not communicating to the Ptc’s as to what The plan is. Yes the writing is on the wall. It’s a slap in the face as the Ptc watches and waits.

Communication is all that’s needed with the Ptc

God Bless!! The Ptc days are numbered.

Just wait until all supervisors have access to everyone's personal information - addresses, phone numbers, social security number, etc. Identity theft, s-xual harassment, contacting associates off the clock? This is going to be a mess.

If we lose the PTC, that'll be a huge loss!! Our PTC is a god send!!! She is pro associate, and a buffer between manager and hourly. With 63 clubs closed, eliminating positions, truly shows this company has no clue what's going on.

I have to say reading through the comments makes me proud. Proud that the ptc’s stay positive through all of the rumors. I have seen many other positions on here that just bash and talk crap, but not the ptc’s. We are truly a different breed. It will be a sad day for our associates when we do go.

What I was saying is that per the direction they want the Mgmt to cover the bulk of orientation however we know how that never happens.

Don’t know how anyone can say

that mgrs have bulk of orientation.

Held four, no cm involvement,

Gcc maybe if they have time.

This process is so much longer.

Having to wait until the safety

walk is done to have them do

Docusign. Only then can you key into Smart the info from Docusign.

I do it all. God bless every PTC

for all the hard work we do.

My lead will just get someone else to do it for her. Just likes she has sone else write evaluation. If this is true I hate to see PTC go. They do a lot at my club.

I’m with the rest of the PTC’s (yes I am one) I will give my all until the day they bring me in to offer a severance. I have heard about the new systems rolling out in September it’s very obvious they are eliminating the position or getting ready to make major changes. We have already changed/simplified orientation so that Mgmt is doing the bulk. My concern is the behind the scenes situations we handle such as unemployment/previous pay adjustments just to name a few. I’m comfortable with Sam’s so if they offer Money to leave give me my track shoes because I’m out not looking back. People just look around you Technology is taking over period!

The new systems start rolling out in September but for some reason my club manager says he is confidant our jobs won't be eliminated until the new year. Makes it difficult to find another position without knowing when.

I didn’t see it on the wire. There is a manager and a lead who are in charge of the new system. It’s called “one”. My manager passed the info on to me. It’s a new system that the leads will use to do any data admin ( Evals, address changes, job changes, etc). If we were staying why wouldn’t we be the ones heading up the new system? Just being realistic! I also will do my job and give my all until the end. I actually love my job and the people I work with.

To Mali

Where on the web did you see info

for PTC? Are you referring to AMP,

Operations? All the way at the bottom it has quarters.

2nd qtr. paperless backroom,

3rd qtr. backroom automation.

Is there any other info? Only been a PTC for 6 yrs. but will still give my all until the axe drops. Good luck

to all you wonderful associates.

No one said it was a daycare. The problem with this company is that we are keeping people like you who are constantly negative. That’s great your life is perfect and you don’t ever need a listening ear. Good for you!! This is part of the reason I am ok with my position going away. We are allowing it to be taken over by people like you.

They have had many conference calls about HR Digital and the PTCs are not in the involved. They are training other associates to help with the new digital training. I love my job. But it's sad that people have to turn to a page on the web to get info about their job... The worst feeling is going into work wondering if you still have a job.. 😢😞

Lol this isn’t a daycare... it’s a job plain and simple, don’t like it quit. My club does not have a PTC. And ours was useless anyways. Didn’t even know what the hotline number was for benefits... I had to look it up myself to change my address for Merril Lynch

No, there is a new system launching in September that has the leads and managers doing a lot of the ptc duties. It’s not too hard to figure out it’s coming. Nothing has been told to any of us, it’s just pretty obvious what is happening.
