Thread regarding Sears layoffs

With the Fairlane Michigan store closing I was wondering

Is there enough openings at 12 Oaks, Livonia Mall, Westland SHopping Center and Lincoln Park to absorb those employees? I know there is limited positions in management but all stores could sure use more employees

They should not have to reapply for a job it should just be a transfer!

Does anyone know how many employees are at Fairlane Mall Sears?

I wd think any of the workers that are coming from Dearborn to other sears nearby are probably trying to hang in the hopes of a severance package and unemployment

Any other guesses?

Sears is that special? Where do they get such a la-de-dah attitude. They don’t pay well, they are probably going under & they are that picky about who works there? Their own employees aren’t good enough?

Going from one Sears to the next is borderline insanity.

Why on earth would you want to?

There's a better life outside of the Sears hell hole.

Get out!

You have to reapply so that SHC can start your time all over. You will not come in with 10 years service but as a minimum wage employees and then you have to work you way up again. They only exception is, if the store has an opening for a higher paying job.

It’s only a matter of time before all of these close. 12 Oaks is a pretty strong mall. Eventually someone will want that space. It was up for auction and may have already sold. Westland is dying fast. Like many other malls, as soon as the last anchor (an awkward non-standard Kohl’s) walks so will Sears. Livonia awkwardly sits in front of a bunch of new retail and Lincoln Park is in front of a huge vacant site Walmart wanted at one time. It would be a great spot for a Costco to draw from Downriver, Dearborn, and a fast-growing Detroit. Only a matter time before someone makes the right offer on the land as the ancient buildings are a liability to anyone including Sears.
