Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Managers and Pharmacist

So late we are celebrating the employees increases because of the Trump tax cuts.

I think it's great the company is investing in it's employees. However what did we get out of this? The hardest working employees, the back bone of the company, gets 0 from CVS.

Ladies, and Gentlemen, does this example of CEO Larry Merlo remind you any of the hedge fund manger of Sears Holdings Company, Eddie Lampert, who only wanted the company, SEARS/KMART for the real estate value? The Company, that I grew up with, is sadly in trouble, only for the money.

Make your own comparison, even though in a different industry.

California stores get 247 minimum. Most sm are hourly. Sh-- doesnt get done oh well go home, no overtime. That is why CA as a state is failing. Cant force the SM to work more because it pushes payroll over. So we go when we hit our 9th hour. Most of our stores doing 55k-90k weekly, 1500+ scripts. Huge old longs stores run down and never remodeled. Pretty much top worst retailer to work for (besides the sm pay is decent) no bonuses though, shrink eats all that up. No labor whatsoever. 1+1 6 days a week. I dont know how we manage to get as much done as we do. Some other company would die to have our sm’s on the team.

I value my hourly employees. But I am also agreeing with some of you how undervalued the managers are. I am sure there is some places they must have it real good. But here running min hour store with mid volume. Sales. I agree we can be considered the backbone. Especially when we have to do multiple doubles a week to spread hours around a bit better. In my area it does not matter if you are doing 20k or 40k we all get 202 a week.

Employees wouldn't be calling out if you were better at hiring and if they respected you. Don't s--- at your job and come online calling yourself the backbone of the company.

Sorry but the hourly employees are the backbone of the company not overpaid under trained store managers

The way is see it is that you're investing more in talent at the bottom level. This not only improves cleanliness and customer experience, but it makes your scores go up so you can get the large bonuses (the money that it would take your hourly employees months to make).

try to live a normal life is impossible as a manager because we have no power. Cashier or supervisor call out numourous times you can’t do sh-- until you run it thru 4 levels to disipline. So every weekend forced into working open to close

The shifts do all the work at my store. Everything. All my manager does is double check it. Who ever said being a manager is hard, probably isn't doing it right 😎

The store manager is literally the hardest working person in the store. It's not a desk job. Anyone that tells you differently has no idea what they are talking about.

Try to work a weekend or past 3 on a weekday without crying. There's a start.

You know the answer, it is a fight for talent at each job level. For entry level jobs the fight to attract talent has gotten harder and CVS was essentially forced to increase pay to retain and attract talent. Until real incomes shoot up in this country for middle management and specialized roles rise to the point where CVS is underpaying you aren't going to see a large shift in pay. CVS already meets and beats its competitors for management role compensation so they don't feel pressure to change. That's the truth out there in a world where employers aren't in the business of protecting you but their EPS. You can always find a few places out there paying higher but it's not the majority of the industry.
