Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

A Journalist May Want to make an Open Records Req to the Calif Dept of Labor for all Claims Against Oracle

Could be an interesting article combined with investigation of the cloud washing “deals” the last three years. There’s a story here.

Do journalists do actual meaningful work covering the business scene? They do if they are working for an independent and/or non-profit. Like ProPublica exposing IBM clearing out older workers. Something that many suspected, but could not prove until a fact digging journalist got the story.

Fortune basically publishes corporate press releases, and conducts softball style interviews.

Most of those articles and sites (such as Forbes) have a pay to play system. If you contribute Ad money they will write articles in your favor. Been happening for decades.

You’re probably right and I do see your logic .

Those Forbes articles on oracle are all written by that guy Bob or some such who is retired from oracle PR Dept and writing freelance for oracle now. His articles are all hype and bs to prop up the stock

You really expect "journalists" to research and write hard hitting stories? You know that they are all in the pockets of corporations. "articles" are either press releases reformatted to look like articles or they're fluff pieces like "How much did a loaf of bread cost the year you were born." There's a reason no buys or reads newspapers anymore.

Even if a journalist wrote such an article, no one would publish it. They know that it's a complete waste of time.

I'd like to see the hostile work environment exposed. Employees are treated like dirt at Oracle. The good and honest people get the worst treatment because the management is intensely corrupt. Honest people don't fit into the corruption and are systematically attacked and purged.

HR is a joke.

Hostile work environment would be a good description. For oracle globally. An understatement actually. HR @ oracle props up and is a shield for the bad actors and management. Like Sanfra’s earnings call, obfuscating the truth is HR’s #1 job. The corruption at oracle runs deep and wide in their corporate bureaucracy. Anyone at work for five years or more is part of that fabric of corruption . Decent human beings LEAVE there before they get coopted into the culture & corrupt ways. Think twice before hiring oracle veterans of 5+ years.

The treatment of employees is also notably horrid but unreported.

There are some interesting stories of the techniques used to sale. Completely unethical.
