Depending on your store hours there are 2 basic shifts. 8am-445pm and 10am-7pm. There are some inbetween shifts as my ownership is big. But the freedom of making your own schedule is gone. You’ll have 3 unavailable days just like a regular associate. I don’t even think asts will Exist anymore. With the way that things have been phasing out, it seems like there will be big changes.

Can someone give an example of what a typical schedule looks like?

It’s c-ap, it rolled out in my district. It’s so hard to coordinate coverage. As an asts you lose access to approving and disapproving pto. I have to look at reports to see what my team availability is. The Asts works as a regular Ast associate. I really don’t have control over any scheduling but I’m still held accountable for the budget. A few rumors were that the company is trying to get rid of the ASTS. We shall see next quarter.

Early July, I “blacked out” a week in August and they scheduled people. So will do what I’ve always done and just delete whatever days I don’t want anyone scheduled. I don’t think the blackout feature works.

Okay, and what about when the full-timer is on vacation and the part-timer is alone and can't work nine days in a row and therefore there is no office coverage? and what then? should i come in on my day off to check and see if ESC ignored the blackout? But then that would put us over the budget, and god forbid that ever happen.

No, I don't work for ESC. And if they get added back, you delete them again. But you also HAVE to have enough slots in to get your new hires trained to begin with. So you need to add more on days and times you are there and do two at the same time or something like that.

omg. i submitted a ticket and asked them WHY they did that, and they told me that they didn't see any open slots so THEY ADDED the times back in. When I blacked it out doesn't matter, because they simply added the times back in. You must work for ESC.

I’m not defending ESC. Good grief. I’m telling you that you have to get smarter on how you manage your slots. A week out may not be enough time, because we have new hires scheduled more than two weeks out right now. If the blackout tool didn’t work, then manually delete all the open slots for that day you want to blackout. And before you leave for the day you need to delete your open slots for the next day so you don’t get someone hired at 8pm that night and they get scheduled to come in the next day.

sigh yes, we did it a week in advance. and blocking days is the whole reason they put in the blackout tool. and you can't reschedule someone if they were hired after you left for the day and scheduled to come in the next day when you're off and there's no coverage. stop defending ESC.

If that happened then you didn’t block them in time. Best thing to do is,to delete the onboarding slots instead of blocking the day anyway. And you can always reschedule your phone hires too.

i wish tha twere true with onboarding by phone hiring, but it isn't. we blacked out days for a vacation and they simply ignored that and set people up anyway.

Stop panicking....you just edit your schedules,to what you need like everyone else in the store already does. And you control your onboarding times, they don’t control you. Input what you want your times and days to be and build your schedules around them. And no there’s not AsT cuts in 3rd quarter. Who knows what the future will bring, but it won’t be in Fall..that’s workload s---c-de.

So how the hell do you work around cash office duties and the god-forsaken phone hiring schedules?

Has anyone had AST jobs added to the spring ownership? We had jobs added, but there have been rumors in the past about AST cuts in Q3. Anyone have any info about this?

In order to better serve the business needs of our AST colleagues and stores, the optimization of AST schedules based on total store sales will be tested in 5 Districts starting with August week 2 schedules. This is an exciting change for our AST colleagues that will allow them to take advantage of our newly updated Availability platform, input MTO (including Unavailable Days), and utilize My Day self-service tools to manage their weekly schedule needs This spring there was a change for colleagues and stores to help with planning ahead – Availability and Two

Weeks of Schedule Release. Through Availability, colleagues are better able to balance work and personal commitments, store workload will be reduced, and have the maximum amount of time to fill open shifts. In order to provide this incredible opportunity, the schedule release was modified to be two weeks at a time. This shorter schedule release window ensures more flexibility for colleagues to plan ahead while balancing to schedule coverage. All in all this is a better solution for our customers, colleagues and stores!

Colleagues will be assigned a range of hours based on their status during schedule production

o Full-time AST Supervisors will be assigned 35-40 hours per week

o Full-time AST colleagues will be assigned 28-40 hours per week

o Part-time AST colleagues will be assigned 12-20 hours per week

o Select Part-time AST colleagues who have a historical average of 20 hours per week will be

assigned the 20-30 hour work schedule and will be assigned minimum of 20 hours per

week.

They are doing a pilot in 5 districts. AST will input their availability and they will get a generated schedule like all of the other associates. No longer making our own schedule.
