IBM has taken over part of VDSI. A picture was sent showing a sign saying. IBM Welcomes Verizon employees. Increasingly, companies are focusing on core competencies. Billing systems, websites, retail systems and data centers are not a Verizon core competency. It is the telecommunication business and the technology that is associated with it like '5G' and not VISION billing or MY VERIZON!

There is no guarantee of severance pay, especially with a new company leader taking over, He may decide to make some changes that will not be to popular.
I assume rebadging will require us to accept a vendors official offer. What happens if you do not accept this offer from the vendor ?
Can't imagine vz kicking us out for cause in such a case when the employee does not resign. They can eliminate the job. However vz would be forced to offer severance / pension in such cases just to avoid a PR nightmare.

For some subset it makes sense. If you are management and still have some pension (from when it applied) AND are retirement eligible, it may make sense to retire from Verizon (and then do whatever) rather than being rebadged, as you may lose your retirement benefit. So getting out before....
Sorry to hear this.. Best of luck to the Verizon IT team. Get your resume's updated and look for other opportunities while you can. You will find that after the honeymoon ends, the stress at IBM will become unbearable.

Look up the IBM board --- Queen Ginny conducts staff reductions all of the time. Watson Health is gone. So this is not good for Verizon. Get out now while you can.
