Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

layoffs in Spain and France. future layoffs in Italy and UK

reposting from another thread, this seems to be confirmed by some local people:

SSO field sales and presales in France have already been wiped out beginning of june, but given the laws it will be effective only in 90 days. This is official and not a news.

Spain is still unofficial, but already decided.

As of today, Switzerland, France and Spain have no SSO field sales and presales, everything is done by OD in Malaga.

Italy and UK are still under discussion, could be that Italy will go full OD in the next months, while UK should move to OD only in FY20. Then also the Benelux+Germany+north will be wiped out.

The only SSO field sales that will last in the next years is the EECIS+CAT org.

You have to position this within the Oracle context of SC being on POTUS's transition team, Trump wanting key jobs in the U.S., and Oracle being a major supplier to the U.S. and Federal market, SC also opened a huge Oracle operation in Romania personally. So jos are being relocated in the SF in cheaper locations (i.e., not SF) and anything can can be moved to the low cost countries like ROmania.

As I'm still part of the previous "south EMEA systems" I can confirm that the EMEA technology sales leadership had finished the 12-14 months plan of clearing and destroying the entire Systems sales who been reporting to the corporate on compliance & ethics cases and issues.

Now the fake cloud / channel staffing and misrepresentations could go full steam.

“Dress OD up all you want in tshirts and jeans, but Oracle is still like an embarrassing uncle dancing to Taylor Swift at a wedding.”

LOL! Spot on analogy!

There are still plenty of Oracle jobs being advertised for the UK (London, Reading). But with Brexit coming and current layoff patterns, can these be considered real?

Cost-cutting again, and moving the sales action to OD millennials and younger and cheaper hires. Bucharest must now be at 5,000 headcount at least, so jobs in EMEA high cost countries are at risk.

Dress OD up all you want in tshirts and jeans, but Oracle is still like an embarrassing uncle dancing to Taylor Swift at a wedding.

You wonder right. I work(ed) in Spain Systems and some compliance cases have been permanent here. Some peiple have been fighting for a long time. I heard even board involved, cannot tell.

nope. it is related to the fact that Oracle is no more intersted in selling HW, so no need to have a skilled sales and presales force, that could possibly also interfere (i.e. do their job) with the cloud proposal.

everything will go through the cheap OD org until 2020-2021, and then the HW sales will simply be shut down.

Oracle is becoming a service company, will resell cloud service through some cheap hubs. good luck for that Oracle, you will need a lot and then some.

I was wondering if this Systems/Storage wipe off are related to the compliance issues that EMEA and corporate executives are hiding from the public & SEC ?
