An argument could be made that no one’s compelling you to live in that community, or the US for that matter but, I suppose, no one’s compelling you to take a job where you know there’s union benefits, either.

Is this Supreme Court decision, that one that says an extra individual cannot be forcefully compelled to support a cause in which they do not believe even if it might be benefitting them, applicable to all situations?
Has a precedent been set?
I ask because I’m tired of paying taxes, money that which, while it benefits me at times (i.e., roads, police protection...), I still do not agree with how most of my hard-earned money’s spent.
Also, if the draft were to be reinstated because of a war, a war with which I may not agree, can I keep my kid from it? Just because someone else thinks attacking, say, Iran, is in the best national interest, can’t my kid disagree with whoever thinks it’s an important task and refuse to be part of it?
What about fees associated with living in some communities? Sure, I want my lawn mowed, but should I be forced to pay? Why?
This ruling may get me out of paying for everything I don’t feel like paying for, if that’s the precedent set.

Not a troll at all, but this is the way the system should work.
If the union is worth it, you will members, but if you continue to just protect crappy employees you will not.
You answered why it is worth it to you.

the problem, is many unions lie about cost, and send all money to liberal democrats w ho are no more concerned about your job, then republicans.

After all, the tax cuts for billionaires and extra 150 BILLION dollars a year to the military budget has to be paid for somehow. No problem, @oor, if you're willing to listen I'll explain it in terms that will clarify the situation and "show members why it is better to use you".
I am a member of a Union and, the fact that I get paid far more handsomely than the fellow who works on the exact same poles as I do, a fellow who is doing almost indistinguishable work from the work that I am performing, is one reason.
Further, I am a member of a Union and, with very few exceptions, the seasoned foremen who are responsible for my well-being respect my judgment and have zero issues in doing what is necessary to protect my coworkers and myself in accomplishing our job safely, and in making sure we return in one piece to our families each night (or morning).
The mere fact that we are consistently afforded the opportunity, unharassed at most times, mind you, to have flagmen protecting and safeguarding us against the possibility of any of our untimely demises, unlike some of the unfortunate poor folks who are consistently pressured to work dangerously on double-yellow lined roads, on blind curves, off a ladder, alone, is even enough to prove to me on its own of the value of a Union.
But, @oor, for a mere 30 or so bucks a week, not only do I see a far, far better salary that outpaces my non-unionized counterparts by quite a lot more than those $30 spent (by hundreds $), I also enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing I will not be pressured to work in a manner that I find puts my well-being in jeopardy and, as an additional benefit, I have a dedicated advocate in my corner when there's a difference of opinion as to whether I have made the best decision under the circumstances should a judgment call I have made ever wrongly come under scrutiny.
Ahh, that union-hating troll, the one who unpatriotically desires a race-to-the-bottom for his fellow Americans, and who foolishly carries the water for the wealthy who chuckle at him behind his most ignorant back, he who, himself, will never be counted amongst their ranks, is back in the house.

The cops, firefighters, health services, highway departments, and town workers are A-1 too, and did not deserve this punch in the face.
It's a shame that their salaries will now have to suffer for the upper echelon, whose greed will never be sated.
Yet, though teachers will now be cheated out of their due, I still do not foresee a tax break in my future.
However, I have no doubt that any tax savings will go immediately be steered towards a tax break for either the rich, the corporations, or both.
After all, we must continue that wealth transfer upward.
I'm getting tired of this Trickle Up Economics.
The teachers in my town do a stupendous job, but get pissed all over.
This is a disgrace.
