Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Apple, Sony and Xbox products have arrived

When I saw the post on here the other day with all the electronics items being talked about I assumed it was BS. Up until today we had a few TV’s and some miscellaneous junk in our “electronics” dept.

Before I clocked out (west coast store) the SGM was all giddy, we are a pilot site he says and shows me how we’re redoing electronics - Apple, and game systems mostly.

It’s crazy, we haven’t even finished the tool reset!! We are closing stores left and right. But now we are going to find the money to redo electronics (that we only last year destroyed) and we’re going to feature Apple products and game systems.

Maybe it’s not Amazon buying us maybe it’s Apple cuz that’s the only way this makes any sense.

It will be interesting when the inevitable vendor/supplier issue pops up. It's going to look a little funny when it's not in stock or not available for order when it's in stock at the Best Buy down the road. It might be a repeat of what happened to the old electronics department where all kinds of TVs, sound bars, home theater systems, stands and accessories were not in stock and not available to order for the several months until they took it out of the stores.

@TWo0kaH-lwl yep, 90% of the stores no longer have AP so the shoplifters are going to have a field day if this actually goes through before Apple, Sony or Microsoft get cold feet and cut us off like most of our other suppliers have done.

they finally figured out that even though electronics has a low margin it brings people into the store and they might buy something else. We have 5 feet of electronics left, mostly old headphones, VCR tapes and portable DVD players. This is a third party buy and most of the products will be older products.

This is going to be a Loss Prevention nightmare. Guaranteed there will be rampant theft.

This is most likely part of the "turnaround plan" that is required as part of a coming chapter 11 filing . It's like when an elderly person gets a boost of energy and ios able to do things they normally would not the month or so before they pass away .

Probably a one-time-third-party buy, since no one in their right mind would deal with sears or kmart.

@twoOkah

How many test stores are there?

They shd have never gotten rid of the electronics department and it is crazy how your store is now rebuilding that Dept after destroying it last year

Curious as to why they are doing that

I guess we will find out soon enough after the current liquidation’s are complete and the next batch of closures are announced..:(. Good luck
