Optical sales way down since changes

Our sales are way down since the new changes added this year. Should we be worried about going 3rd party too?

Keep on focusing on the cheese and not the rat trap...

Funny how you dodge the other valid issues the post mentioned. We are rightly concerned about our employment status in optical and you want to blast us on acronyms?

You guys are retarded. It’s no wonder Optical is shutting down

I want to sincerely apologize for the TYPO I made in my post. I stand corrected HIPAA is the correct acronym. If I offended anyone with this error I truly am sorry.

Now having made my apologies, I would like to know who this person is really working for. If this is a real person who works with members and has this attitude... Wow! My sympathy to this persons co-workers.

HIPAA is an acronym not an abbreviation.

My head is not in the sand. It’s just embarrassing to me when something so important is screwed up by multiple people. Makes it hard for others to view us as professionals. When we can’t even get HIPAA right.

1ofp You’re sticking your head in the sand hoping the hurricane winds won’t touch you. The post was very detailed with specifics about signage, the wire, etc. But rather than deal with those issues, you selectively blew right past that to address a abbreviation?

Tap your heels three times and repeat, ‘there’s no place like home”.

You want to avoid the obvious the post share with us to play class clown. Smh

Looks like TYSUimg-1njw has joined your HIPPA team. How on earth do you mess that up when we deal with it daily? Shows you obviously don’t even know what it is. What does the extra P stand for? I can’t help asking.

Just want to say to TYSUimg-tno that your long comment and what sounded like a logical theory would be taken more seriously if you’d know that it’s HIPAA and not HIPPA. Common mistake made by people who are unfamiliar with the law. Therefore I can’t take your predictions seriously.

Sounds like the end is near for us. Being overstaffed on some days doesn’t help our look when sales are low either. We are now expected to sale 2 pairs per rx. With a prescription people can now buy online cheaper and faster so I’m not sure how or why you don’t feel we aren’t easily seen as useless. Third party means we are no longer considered a core part of the organization. We are being farmed out before being phased out, just like wireless. And when they find out how much they can save by going 3rd party it’s a wrap. Computerization has made the fitting process very simplistic and automated nowadays so our fitting specialty is no longer seen as rocket science. With regards to hIPPA, we’re in a warehouse fitting eyeglasses for heavens sake! How special are we after all? Sales over medical is the mindset with this 3rd party move. Our days are unfortunately numbered.

You’re right, the good times as we know are coming to an end.

Pretty sure it is already in the works. Inventory is really low, always told we will have the new product in a couple of weeks. We've been told this since week 1 of the change over. Storage cabinet locks have change for no apparent reason at all clubs in our market. The pressure was on for all the opticians to get there license even though our state doesn't require it before the change over, now not a word is mentioned. We cant get prescriptions off Boss from Wal-mart optical anymore. And have been told that we no longer are connected to each other in labs, product, or marketing etc. The new signage coming this month has one for the Membership desk promoting "no fee exams". The pictures of the signs are on the Wire under the weekly club notes section in the optical link. The new and improved lens we are selling are not good. We have a large return rate and many lab mistakes. Most saying they feel like they are in a fish bowl. The steps they have taken and the quality issues sure looks like we are "Eye Glass World" material. Part of me wants to feel sorry for the young inexperienced corporate optical team but the reality is they will end up either fired or hailed as hero's at all our expense...

Oh and by the way to who wrote the previous post, optical costs are very low and when it is running with good product the profit margin is really high. And for the most part plus and credit is generated in the optical department far more often than many other departments in the store. Most people are upset with us because we have a chair and desk. We are held to very high confidential standards due to the HIPPA laws and would be fired with out question if they are not followed to the letter of the laws, yes it is a law at both the federal and state level. We are also skilled in many areas from frame repair, fashion styles and skilled at looking for issues that need to be addressed by the Doctor. We are expected to be a shoulder to lean on when needed and to be a positive influence at all times. We are a trained to listen to multiple diverse accents and to find a common way to communicate to help them understand the process for them to see better. Like many others who work in a medical field, we are more than just the person setting in the chair.

And for the most part we are all proud of the job we do.

More than likely I'd say optical is next to go to a 3rd party. Most optical center dont generate enough money or do anything to help plus and credit. Notice I said most not all. Dont need people going crazy. But in my opinion I'd say its gonna happen. Not sure when. Good luck
