Thread regarding Sears layoffs

If these “layoffs” of all leads are coming how come there are stores that opened requisitions on the internal gateway (careers website) today?

Why would HR put openings up if they are going to be cut in basically 2 days..

When the last IBO happened SGMs and Recruiters were not allowed to open any reqs

Wouldn’t there be a meeting for the SGMs if a cut this big were coming because there hasn’t been one.

Because if it is like y’all say my store would be down to 4 managers. You can’t run a store like that. And only 3 would be salaried. I think they might cut but not across the board like y’all said.

FJ Coordinator- is a low pay position created to keep a managers presence in a high inventory dept. most stores have 2 million and up in inventory in FJ. Average pay 10.00 to 13.00

(it won’t be cut )...

Softlines Lead- low pay as well 10 dollar start pay 16-18 max pay varies by store.

FTW Store support- you can’t have the SST/OPS Zone supervisor run what used to be 3 separate depts by himself. Being hourly ASM I doubt that’s feasable.

HA/ Hardlines Sales Lead- how can a ASM/ Supervisor Run the most important depts in the store by them self. That is DEFINATLEY NOT FEASABLE. that’s HA - Mattresses- Electronics- Tools- Lawn And Garden- Fitness- Sporting Goods- Vacuums...

People still working for sears like myself the best thing if your loyal to the company’s and still have hope is to go with the flow.. In this company good people usually they will find a place for you. Good will Come just Don’t panic.

@abx Agree that in this day and age you have to think of yourself first. No corporate is going to look after you. Move on when it is time. The longer you linger at the down trodden place the more it will eat you and drain you of vital energy.

Not sure if you are trolling for the company, or if you truly are that ignorant. One more time, for those who were standing behind the door - Sears and Kmart are done. No one is indispensable. If you think you are, you have illusions of grandeur. I know - I worked there for 40 years. I was indispensable also, because I could work every position in the store. And then I was unemployed. Just like everyone else in the store. Wake up.

O.P-- Like many on this board has said before.... it starts on the Kmart side and then comes to the Sears side. Some of these cuts were made on the Kmart side already. the cuts are coming.

SHC has to keep a mnimum number of open requisitions to fulfill many tax break deals. Or to put it another way; they have to look like they are trying to employ a certain amount of people to get the tax break.

Many stores now already run without a full time jewlery lead, no hardlines or softline lead (only a floor supervisor) which is usually part timer.

you can believe or don't it really doesnt matter to me, but when the cuts come and you are one of them dont act surprised. Too many people have kept the faith that this company was trying to "transform" or turn things around. only to be in the unemployment line. Many had made financial decisions like buying new cars, new homes, taken out loans, gone on vacations etc. under the impression that their job was safe and SHC cared only to find that they were wrong. Plan ahead, save money, look for another job. The end is near and these cuts are only the beginning. See Sears Canada for reference.

LOLZ....Every position you've mentioned has been cut in other stores in other scenarios..

As far as requisitions, you can currently find requisitions for associates at The Bon Ton who are in the final death rattles of liquidation.

I've seen way too many "good" people get laid off or fired who were "indispensable".

Good luck, but the upcoming layoffs are not "fake news"

Sears had 50,000 fake associate layoffs in the last year alone.
