To the people still working at Sears and Kmart, why in the world are you still there? Why aren’t you making the leap into a better company?

It is a fact that if you stay until the bitter end and they file chapter 7 or 11, you might end up with no severance pay. If you stay, you'll have to plan for that possibility. Also, it is possible they might pay those left to hang on and gracefully shut down the company... especially those that work in I.T. or Finance. If you are close to retirement age this might work out for you. If you are the sole breadwinner in your family this can be risky... but everyone has to do what is best for them.... as long as one is aware of the risks and plans accordingly.
I love my job, and I will be loyalty to the end. They'll have to kick me out. I'm staying, I ain't going, your the best gig I've ever had, no no no way I'm living without ya, and your gonna love meeee.
For me i retire in a few months and my store is in liquidation. This couldnt of worked out better! When my severence is up my ss kicls in. I could of never went somewhere else at my age and make the money im making. Sears has been well to me.
Like a train wreck you know is coming but you just cant look away. You know the company is going to go BK and you just have to see how it ends.
I think it’s because some people just don’t want to put the effort into taking action. Others may be afraid of big changes such as putting themselves into a new setting with new people. And some are just close to retirement and they would rather wait and pray they make it.
Nunya bizness. Why does what anyone else do matter to you? Worry about yourself and stay out of everyone else's affairs.
