Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How to know you are being laid off

I know these lists are a dime a zone, but this one really hit home for me once I checked off number 6 (They ask you to train a new hire.) I guess I should be much more worried about the end of the month than I was so far...

According to the human resources professionals polled, the top four precursors to layoffs are:

Downsizing by not replacing employees (63%)

Instituting an employment freeze (49%)

Not renewing contract workers (21%)

Encouraging employees to use vacation time (20%)

Other signs that a company is cutting back include: transferring employees to other locations, not allowing overtime and making salary cuts.

How to tell...? If you are making more than $100K, that’s how.

Basically you are training your replacement. There is no reason why you have to do a good job. Oracle is screwing you over, you don't need to be nice in return.

Anytime a new hire joins someone has to train him. Thats the way things work. Not really sure if it's a definite indicator.
