JUST CONFIRMED!!! SMB in store reps will be eliminated on May 17th

I was told the finance department couldnt justify the SMB in store role any longer and are wanting to cross train the sales reps to perform those task.

I fully expect, at some point for the ISS position to be fazed out as the reps in stores continue to become more comfortable with SMB. Then you have reps selling in stores and BAM’s for the outside. Just not sure if the 17th is a realistic time for the role to be eliminated.

They had a major R2B hiring over the past several months. I highly doubt they are going to wipe out all of R2B. Probably cut the fat and expand the footprint of the reps. Say in my state they have a rep per store in some zones.

So there is all this talk about in store SMB reps being eliminated, but has anyone heard anything about the RBSM’s?

Another note. SMB retail roles are budgeted through Area and Market finance. What happens in one market doesn’t happen in all markets. However if stores are closed on the 17th.... how many R2B specialists are will be necessary. Indirect locals aren’t fully setup to handle AOLs, MAAs, so I doubt if R2B retail reps will be retrained or repurposed.

When smaller to medium stores are retrofitted to indirect, VZW will take a sizeable hit in the R2B which is one of the last sizeable growth levers for porting witless and now, hitting wireline through One Talk. The others on the personal side being connected devices and HUM (which is a low cost, high profit cheap BS device). B2B will probably be safe and actually grow with retail layoffs. They’ll get leads like they do now and get leads from the indirects and the few high volume flagship corporate stores.

Verizon doesn’t want to be in the retail business anymore and can keep flagship stores to handle special needs and service. Think Apples retail model....Few big stores in markets. Other indirect retailers and big box stores holding their product. Has such good brand discipline that most people order their stuff online

How can the finance department justify paying a Dm to have 5 stores and be seen maybe once a month, other companies have Dms that coverage state, or half a state, think ok the money this company could save by not being so top heavy, not to mention you wouldn't have to be on a call every hour of the day!

Of course the increase in job duties for reps will result in no increase in pay and no quota relief. More work less pay its the Verizon way.
