Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Department of Defense Cloud Contract

It looks like this $10 Billion dollar contract will go to Amazon. We (IBM) and Oracle are fighting tooth and nail to stop this and carve out a piece of the pie for ourselves. Pentagon is pushing back, we'll see how things pan out. If we manage to get a slice of the pie, things will look much different for every single cloud initiative we have.

IBM doesn’t even use their own cloud.

SAD commentary here - years ago, this would have been a GIMME for Big Blue and now " Amazon " of all places has a good shot at . There was a time ...... no more.

DOD needs to realize that IBM is only nominally an American company.

Too many high profile public sector c----ups from IBM. Can't see them getting it. Oracle sure as hell won't be. Can certainly see Google and MS getting something but the majority going to AWS.
