I was just informed of this change (6/8/2018) in our Dallas Texas Club today. I wasn't surprised, as I had found out about the pilot program several months ago on the Wire. I just didn't know how fast or company wide they were going to roll it out. They said I could change positions or take severance pay. There are a few points I would like to make about the options. First of all, if the position they offer you would result in a pay cut, you do NOT have to take a pay cut! If YOU choose to step down to a lower paying position, yes. But if they eliminate the position, NO! Stand up for yourself on this one because I know a lot of people who have believed what they were told. Second of all, if they do offer you a position and you decide not to take it, you can't decide to quit and then take severance pay. "If you are offered (a) comparable job within the company and decline the new position, you are not eligible for severance." As soon as the guy told me that "changes were coming to wireless" I told HIM what they what going to be, because I already knew. As a LONG time associate, I would like to think I know what I am talking about or at least believe that this information is correct. Now it's time to weigh my options and see what positions the offer me. Good luck to everyone that finds themselves in the position.

For those that direct tv took over, are they eliminating the tech team lead in your store? Putting more people in tech since wireless always helped out?

What other changes in September?

I can see it being a less than ideal situation but I dont think it qualifies as discrimination. Probably September with other changes.

Anything going on with receiving clerk or TL?

Haven't heard anything in a long time. We are just working wherever which is fine but a more deffinate routine would be appreciated. I was told by CM that this is how it is until further notice from corporate. Just wondering how long this can go on until it becomes a discrimation issue?

Wow photo is not a waste my store photo sales are crazy. It is always so busy over there. And ever since the Costco next door closed their photo center our photo sales have tripled. My Sam's club would be freaking stupid to remove our photo center we get alot pf sales there. Not to mention there would be a ton of angry members.

Yes servance is being offered to those effected if they do not find a new job within the company. I've had this pilot in place in my club for almost 2 months now and while it does seem activations have picked up the overall sales numbers have been about even from last year. Sure they work commission but they don't start talking money till roughly their 13th activation with squaretade. It's not crazy money as some people think, the real commission is still with direct TV installs.

Photo is a complete waste. New clubs opening up dont even have photo. The 3rd party doing wireless probably paid commission. Low hourly wage but commission. Definitely see a jump is cell phone sales. You'll see

I would think this will hit everyone else all at once, and probably very soon. Good luck to us all. I loved working with wireless. Why choose another position when those will be let go as well.

RIP Sam's Club Wireless. No one will want to come back for a phone once they find out these idiots are doing it. Combine this with only having 2 phones to choose from, and its over for phones at Sams Club. Hope they enjoy the headache of WARP and the 400 phone appointments during black friday. I'll be kicking back just pulling boxes from hardlines all day til I can find a different job.

Happening here on east coast as well. Not going to give my location but I'm in the south. Anyway my manager told me direct TV is going to take over wireless and I have 60 days to find another position in the company. What makes me more made is they say I have to train the direct tv guys. So I get to have the hassle of training the people replacing me? I knew this was going to happen eventually I had heard about it. And I noticed the direct tv guys in my store always asking about wireless and talk to my members at my kiosk about wireless. Made me feel like they pushing me to the side and already taking over. I'm going to miss wireless I really enjoyed selling phones and talking to people about phones. I also would help out in electronics and other areas around the store. Sam's club just trying to be like Costco. Next they'll be getting rid of photo just like Costco.

Anyone currently in a wireless position needs to start looking for a new job, whether you're in SoCal or not. It's coming nationwide. My position was eliminated today and it's really not fun. Very sad.
