Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Something has to be coming

Something has to be coming-stores of this size can't keep running like this. It's just miserable. My store is in the same shape. Irp's not getting done, same for cycle counts and down stocking. We barely get new signage up. Sometimes it's not all up and we are scrambling to do it. We are tasking more and really can't help the customers like we should. Were in the 100 Days- and it is Hell! All it would take is to hire more full time and forget all the part time crap. Part timers don't care, they have no reason to. Would you for 10-20 hours a week with '0' chance for a full time job. I'm an LNS and this is the worst year out of my 9years - always loved my job, but I don't think I'll make 10. I may not have to worry about it -I'm sure my job will be phased out. I'll bet we start seeing store closings too.

Compared to our competitor..we are way behind in technology, I really don't feel like our newly appointed ceo will actually help our company either. In fact he may actually have a reverse effect.

I agree .me and a host of others with 15 years or more and benefits and decent pay were fired or "layed off"for one reason or another. People with vast experience and customer service. Next thing you know.they're tooting thier own horn we're hiring! Banners commercials etc. Guess how they got all those openings! Fire one full timer hire 2 part timers at less money and no benefits. Its a shame. Not the same company i went to work for in 1999

I agree, well said.

My store is being run the same way; everybody is worried that their boss (and bosses boss) likes them. Management pets do very little. I am constantly down-stocking, filling in holes, and recovering the department. Others in my department only assist customers, take breaks, and are allowed to leave early (because they eat lunch on their 15 minute break). It's a joke.

I Totally Agree. Lowes has become a Culture of greed as far as upper management is concerned. It's all about lowering operating cost so the will be more $$$ on the NBT line.So therefore all the high end positions in Mooresville will get bigger bonuses and larger stock options.

Management at a store level is a joke,--there is none. The only thing they are concerned with is making sure their supervisor likes them and thinks they are doing a good job--- yes men- thats what the all have become. Alot of good, knowledgeable employees are leaving stores.

When a person in any management position is only worried about what the higher ups think of them-- all ability to think in a Logical, productive manner goes away.

I know of very smart Store Managers (2) that left a couple yrs ago- the saw the writing on the walls.
