So the rumor I have heard is that stores will be required to have a certain number of shifts per store, the title will change and we will have to interview for our job as there will only be so many positions in our store. Those that are chosen must be willing to move up, those who don’t will be bumped down to cashier. Has anyone else heard this?

I don’t know bout limit on supervisors but there is a specific number of Full time and part time employees you should have both for fs and rx depending on the store
What I'm hoping is wrong is the low volume stores not having a mgr
Nope it’s true, DL told my Store Manager yesterday during MSH visit that she has too many shifts and needs to start thinking of who her strongest and weakest are and if they would make or good SMITs or be better suited as cashiers or in the pharmacy.
Ohhh sh-- - I hope you are wrong
I do not believe this rumor to be true. This is actually nothing new. Back when they created new titles (store ops manager etc.) most minimum hour stores where supposed to be structured to have 5 managers including the store manager. If your DL was not following this structure two years ago, you can blame him/her for any changes about to come about. My Regional Manager/HRBP were smart and had put a lot of focus on getting all of our stores set to the proper structure back then.
For stores that did not have ASMs The structure would look like this.
Store manager
Store ops supervisor
3 Shift Supervisors (1 FT 2 PT)
Stores that had ASMs The structure would look like this.
Store manager
Store ops manager
3 shift supervisors (1 FT 2 PT)
High volume stores
Store manager
store ops manager
Store ops supervisor
Shift supervisors (1 FT 1 PT)
Top stores
Store manager
2 Store ops managers
Store ops supervisor
1 shift supervisor
24 hour stores get two additional FT shift supervisors
SMITs are not part of the store structure. They are linked to the manager who was chosen as a trainer by the DL. If that manager is transferred to another store the SMIT program goes with them.
This is purely my opinion, but here is what I think will happen before the end of year. Minimum hour stores will have no store manager. They will have an hourly store leader. I think these positions will be given to current store managers according to criteria similar to the DL restructuring. It will be a thinning of the herd. I would also bet no incentives for this position. For mid-volume stores I could see the salaried store manager position remaining, but they would be responsible for running their store and overseeing 1-2 minimum hour stores. High volume stores would keep the Store manager position and they would only be running their store. These are not facts, just my thoughts.
Boy..................what a way to run a Company in 2018.
I’m hearing the same rumors here in Texas. It’s supposed to be based on volume and help weed out long term shifts, and provide a pool of SMITs to pull from.
