Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

The silence before the storm

Good luck to those in the firing lines. Hopefully it's not as bad as I am hearing it will be. Don't be stressed because it's out of your control. The decisions have mostly been made. The best thing you can do is start looking for your next career move if you already haven't. By getting a 2 week headstart, you will lower your level of stress if you do get the ax. If you didn't get it, then you still have the choice of doing something new or staying until the next round of cuts.

I have to say that the (In)Human Resources trolls are pretty lame. They must have the junior folks monitoring this. Some kids out of college with nothing better to do.

How about actually being Human ?

Hey @TfMQGhq-1qmw. ... I thought you said there were no layoffs? Why are you claiming posters on this board were RIF’d?

Got lost in your own lies?

This is the caliber of talent in oracle HR dept. LE MH & SC like their HR folks to just take orders not be thinking beings. Hence their activity on this board is as idiotic and contradictory as oracles leadership. Oracle is an embarrassment.

The HR cut-n-pasters are really stepping up their lame game as 5/31 approaches. Mad skillz you’ve got there, HR drones!

It is the story you were ordered to use, so you're sticking with it. Repetition with getting a spin message out is key. Thanks doctor.

Oracle HR becoming more insistent as we get closer to the big one on 5/31 - they still haven’t learned than nobody pays attention to them. Chill!

I said it twice, and I’ll say it again...The “news” on this board is mostly FAKE information by ex-employees who are p*ssed they were RiFed and now want to sow doubt and worry among their colleagues who remain.

After the next round, it will be time for HR to roll out one of their other favorite lines:

“Only a few dead wood were cut.”

But the FAKE NEWS/unhappy RIFd losers line does seem to be HR’s favorite lately.

It is an interesting argument the HR presents. Ignore the possibility of layoffs simply because those complaining about layoff have themselves been laid off. Doesn't the existence of layed off employees only underline the possibility, even the probability, of additional layoffs.

HR obviously does not hire programmers, nor people familiar with fundamental logic.

Sounds like there more complainers very soon.

I'm still curious as to what the OP was "hearing". Which LOB's are going to have layoffs? Another thread claims that they're going to be on May 31st and be massive, because there is a layoff budget in the quarterly reports. If it's a given that there are going to be thousands cut on May 31st, even more than were in the Solaris/Sparc layoff, surely someone must know where these are going to be, yet there's little more than vague rumors.

It makes sense the layoffs are in the works, as the Austin hub just went into effect. They aren't going to add the people they have hired in the hub without getting rid of a lot of expensive sales people.

That has to happen sometime. That will happen.

As this forum is anonymous all information must be taken with a grain of salt. I am from the inside and can confirm that layoffs happen regularely. Product lines are stopped, locations are consolidated...

And there is a general move regarding laying off expensive people to hire younger cheaper folks. At the scale of oracle it can make business sense. They can save millions. Now on a human point of view it just s#&*s

"Hopefully it's not as bad as I am hearing it will be. "

What are you "hearing"?

I remember during the time leading up to the Solaris and Sparc and later the WWOPS layoffs, there were rumors here that turned out to be rather accurate. But lately is seems to be just vague non information.
