Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Predictions for Earning call in June?

I am waiting to see what this quarter's results will be. Any hints on what you think will happen there?

It's possible the earnings call will be bad. The fact that Gartner and others are coming out on record about the aggressive sales tactics could indicate that they are making sure they are covering their asses in case things go down the tubes with Oracle. Maybe they are preparing for bad numbers or announcement of SEC investigation or something like that.

I'd love it if the SEC is heavily into investigating Oracle. With the whistle-blower incentives, you would think someone at Oracle would have cashed in on that and turned Oracle in.

But, there doesn't seem to be any evidence of this. I am still hoping.

Duty to disclose - let’s see what oracle has to say in its next filing

"Oh, really? Me thinks they’re all over it!"

Other than your opinion, do you have any evidence the the SEC is "all over it" or is it just wishful thinking on your part?

It think the earnings call will be about the cloud fraud SEC investigation

I think that it will, in part, depend on how many field employees are leaving voluntarily for better opportunities and how many are being "voluntold" that they need to leave or they will be fired. In other words -- (1) how much can Oracle lower existing costs and (2) how much of the allotted severance funds will Oracle not need to spend. Anything they can do to reduce costs on their books can be used to make things look better. Enough cost cutting/"saving" could help soften the impact of the continued decline in on-premise licensing and the ongoing struggled with getting customers to actually use "Cloud".

I do expect that there will continue to be lots of marketing for the earnings results around how Oracle is doing great in the Cloud. That will largely come from (1) SaaS where customers have been told they don't have any other options anymore and that they have to move or they will lose support, (2) growth in NetSuite where small and medium businesses don't yet know what dealing with Oracle means and (3) continued Cloud-washing for the rest of Oracle's products like on-premise hardware that is referred to as "Cloud at Customer" even though it really isn't Cloud at all. I'm sure Oracle will make similar claims as IBM trying to state that they are somewhere in the top 5 Cloud companies globally when all they really have is hosting/Colo facilities with products that struggle to work together.

It's hilarious when they emphasize non-GAAP results so much in their statements.

Non-GAAP doesn't count for sh--. Non-GAAP literally is fake news.

I'm betting it will be a little below what they guided down to.

Many individual contributors have a lot of good information. That is simply unavoidable. For example, if you are on a sales team, and your entire region s---s, you know it. Sure, maybe there are some diamonds on the rough (products or regions doing well) that none of us know about, but that hasn't been the case the past few quarters.

Management guided growth projections down in the last two quarterly earnings reports. It would seem hard to believe they could disappoint for this quarter. A third straight quarter of disappointing earning news would be really bad for the stock price.

"It's anonymous idiot."

Given how few know the info, and given that they are probably higher ups with plenty to lose should they be identified and nothing to gain by divulging it, it's a safe bet that no true insider information will be posted here,.

It's anonymous idiot.

Expect no big surprises. SK does a good job of giving guidance to set expectations. That said, what I've seen from my corner still indicates very slow adoption of cloud services. Accounting will again try their best to bury that truth by counting cloud credits as revenue. It will still be obvious however that we're falling behind all the other cloud players.

My bet is that you won't see a pop in your RSUs.

Or better yet, they could just automate HR entirely. Just have recorded messages for employees that have complaints. All they need to do is get your name so they can add it to the layoff list.

Anyone in sales that can weigh in on the next quarter's numbers before they lay you off?

I would think that HR could be moved to India. They could just put them in call centers there with scripts to read to employees that call with issues. That would cover anything they currently do.

Could be some have already been moved there?
