Seems like one closes every day and 20-40 close as a group every three months.
Can't believe we had over 3000 stores six or seven years ago. (Sears and Kmart combined).
What other retailer ever closed stores at this rate, in this fashion?

No, when they actually go out of business, all the remaining stores will get shut down simultaneously and there will be no need to keep track.

@OP - "How could anyone keep track?" Well, I would say that the people that follow this site have done an excellent job of keeping track. Practically everyday there were posts of the closings taking place across the country. It was this community that called out SHLD for engaging in "stealth closures." In fact, the business publications were weeks behind in recognizing or reporting these events. I'm positive that the lists of store closings that they have recently published are comprised from the closings posted on this site!
