Bullying still out of control

Anybody feels that bullying is still out of control at Nike?

Latest developments seem to have done very little to curb it, which honestly surprises me. It's as if the bullies just seem emboldened by it. Maybe because they feel like they got away with it?

Whatever the reason, things are not better at all.

Jessica.golden@nbcuni.com Yes I will talk to you, injustice should and must be questioned. Nike and their unfair handling of Employee relations must be shared with the world. Shame on Nike for hiring bullies in their ER department!

Promote to President role when there haven’t been any deliverables in 14 years. That will learn them. Good luck to the new Valiant underlings.

Don't contract here unless you are just looking for a paycheck during a gap. I was treated very poorly, physically assaulted and let go after I reported it.

They've got a few entrenched people that couldn't get a job anywhere else that will cut down anything that looks like a threat.

Over at NDe and CS, they just lost more than a million dollars trying to replace the current CRM with salesforce. The project deadlines were very aggressive (6 months) and the project wasn’t scoped well.

they've missed their deadlines several times now and finally decided to postpone the project for several months.

But instead of holding leaders accountable, they’re being praised for forward thinking, given pats on the back ... well you know the drill ...

Whoa Nike sustainability has 50 people? Adidas has less than 15 and was just voted the best company for social and environmental transparency. I guess this further illustrates the poor leadership from the VP of sustainability at Nike. Perhaps she is too busy delivering the speeches written for her by the corporate comms team to actually do anything of value?

Someone told me that sustainability has nearly 50 FTEs just to write the CR report.

@61om is spot on. I have seen this sort of example repeated many times with myself and others.

Bullying at Nike is NOT limited to the Men. The top three women at Nike are the biggest bullies of all. Sadly, these female leaders bully other women (and sometimes men). And yet, they are heralded as amazing female leaders. Without reform across the men and women leaders across the company, the toxic culture will continue. Moreover, burgeoning women leaders will continue to be suppressed and be bullied by these unrelenting, oppressive female leaders.

Your job its to assess the performance of new product.

The tests and human testing feedback is mostly negative and suggests the product needs more work.

Your boss decides only to communicate the positive aspects of the testing report to his/her superiors instead of the whole, possibly ugly, truth. You object. Your boss ignores you and expresses his/her displeasure with your "attitude"

When the product goes to market and tanks, gets recalled, ridiculed, etc, the witch hunt begins.

Everyone, except the boss who hid the truth, are excoriated.

Speaking the truth to power at Nike is career limiting.

Wow. Can anyone give an example of “bullying” and “toxic environment” without calling names and titles. I’m really curious what is that, because maybe it’s happening around and I’m just not aware.

Thank You!

The "bullying" is also used to silo employees....stall their careers, pay women less than male counterparts, and ageism. It's all wrapped in one term. imho.

I know of a couple current and former co-workers who were paid less than male counterparts...which is against the law...mind you and Nike didn't do a damn thing about it, b/c of the blatant 'bullying' attitude.

I heard from someone high up that they are aware that some influential women are organizing to take their concerns to the press and board of directors.

Despite committee-written sympathetic emails to the employees about the survey results, the bullying won't end until the people with personality disorders are fired and senior management is financially rewarded for doing so.

Keep digging.

If I understand it correctly there was a survey from some women about what was going on about abuses at Nike?

MP was made aware? Investigation was done by? 11 leaders were let go or walked out.

Now retraining is going on and everyone is to trust HR and ER? Hahaha.

All of it sounds like another story. Fact and fiction maybe NF can make the rounds and tell the story.

There is another posting here about ageism.... that can not be forgotten

Get a new job? Sure, I can and I did. Because im not mediocre. Because if your skills are in demand and you aren't tied to a geo you can get the job you want. Nike knows there is a visa shortage. So does the bay area and any other tech hub. That's why people with actual skills get unsolicited Linkedin interview requests from all over the country. So, you can treat people like garbage, spend a ton of money ramping them up, they leave because of bullying, rinse and repeat. I'd that's how Nike wants to play it, go on ahead. Skilled tech workers from actual tech companies that aren't on a visa can and will leave, regardless of badge status if they are being harassed. 1. Nike is not a tech company but it wants to be. It's too siloed and full of people without the skills to adapt to the new stack who are too busy hoarding information and playing games to get sh-- done. 2. Nike is not agile, at all. If Nike wants to win, they can deal with this mess. Or, they can lose tons of money and that's fine too. They don't make a product that people are guaranteed to keep coming back to, it's a brand based off of image. Does Nike want to play to win or just keep being self-congradulatory?

Jessica.golden@nbcuni.com, how can you protect anyone who gives you information?

Retribution is still a possibility for those still there and those who left.

Nike HQ is still a mess.

Imagine a place that's as bizarre as Hooli.com- with VPs who can't write their own emails, fragile egos and an intolerance for anyone who actually calls BS on the BSers.

Follow the bullying-which is still rampant and tolerated-and committed by men and women... dig into it.

It will continue until all of the bad actors are cut.

That cut will be too deep for most senior managers to handle.

Imbeciles, leading imbeciles.

What a shame- I enjoyed my time there despite how much BS I and my friends/colleagues and family had to put up with.

When you spend too much time in the monkey house you tend to forget what schit smells like....

'get a new job. you are lucky to work here'?! How about, let's hold ourselves to the highest standard - not UA or adi. I hope this episode serves as a cultural reset for the company, and that bullies like the one you describe get identified and coached or sent packing.

@TklDP7g Agree with you 100% bullying is getting worse. Nothings being done, there is no equality or justice given. It’s become a toxic place. When leaders and ER/HR get away with being dishonest corrupt and bullies, one loses all hope.

It's called workplace mobbing. Never saw anything like it until I worked there. It's not going to change. You need to be in the cool kids club or you might as well leave.
