I know people are saying major layoffs are coming sometime this week, but I call bull. I don't remember that we ever had layoffs immediately after Memorial Day, and I doubt Dell is about to start now.
I'm not disputing we'll have more layoffs, but it will not be this week.
Since the turn of the century, anybody who thinks their job should be secure in a for-profit company, especially high tech, is a fool.

Hoping that this is not the meeting that they announce the business direction that the company has decided on is move all the higher cost employees work to lower cost countries. However knowing how Dell operates and they have no idea how to keep the company alive with the huge debt that MSD decided to bring to his company with his "let's get the band back together" arrogance to takeover EMC, even though DELL was not and looking at what has happened since the takeover is not a storage solution provider. Very sad that MSD is causing thousands of North American employees and families to lose jobs. MSD sat in the Roosevelt room in a jobs work meeting at the White House and shook hands about keeping jobs here and createing new jobs. Guess his handshake is worth about as much as the negative revenue that Dell is generating after the "Go big Win big" mantra. So very very sad.

I will circle back on this thread late Wed/early Thur to see what the status is. Those who were WFR'd (or know of those who were), please keep everyone updated. I no longer work at Dell, but I do want to track what's going on there.
What is the status now? Does HR do it in group or call individually? I never experienced a layoff. getting nervous.
It is going to happen Wednesday. It is going to be huge. Many sites are having GROUP notifications and entire departments and products are going to disappear.
Dell is NOT a stable place to work.

I was WFR'd last month and am convinced that there won't be a mass culling, but a quiet, consistent, and substantial (in aggregate) reduction. It will be Death By A Thousand Cuts over and over and over.
