Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Any predictions for the BIG RIF this Thursday May 31

There were predictions of massive layoffs that would kick off warn, but those folks have backed down and will soon be issuing a new date for the BIG RIF. Does anyone have any inside information as to what, if anything, is in store for this Thursday May 31? What programs will be hit and what locations?

Will the company shed EVERYTHING except the cloud? Will it be another minor RIF of a few heads here and there? Will there ever be a BIG ONE or will it continue to be death by 1000 cuts?

So Oracle in the US is still using FedEx for its layoff packages.

If you signed-up for FedEx email notifications and didn't get one today, then that means you've survived the pre-EOQ round.

Close to 10% of sales force in India affected.... CSMs, Architects,OC,ACS,SCs,Field Sales..... Some of these positions will be filled by new workforce but not all. Tomorrow you will see less familiar faces at work and lots of empty desks. Am sad.

@Tpfz6NG-1dcu...sorry to hear it. Hang in there. The severance will help tide you over. Start reaching out to your contacts. Our family went through the Oracle layoff last year and there is light ahead.

@Tpfz6NG-1dcu - So sorry to hear the news. I had expected this for the last six months. I was going to stick around, but decided to retire a few months back. I just didn't want to have to stick around and doing the planning for the inevitable layoffs of this team. I suppose I missed out on the potential for severance, but it was just too depressing to come in and screw over my team mates every day. Good luck to you and your family.

In NAS as an ECA. Got an invite for tomorrow and notified of a Fedex package. I have a family to provide for and my wife is sick and needs to see a lot of specialists. I am sick to my stomach right now. I should see a nice severance if it's any consolation.

I would estimate that around 50 people will go. Everyone is this organization expected to go eventually. There will have no surprise.

There will be some layoffs on the 31st.

Then more in mid to late June.

Reason: Mgmt does not yet have their sh-- together on the new fiscal yr strategy and territory sales assignments. Then legal has to get involved to send out the paperwork to everyone in the field.

So, as per usual, it'll be a series of false starts and half-witted decisions issued as "marching orders" for the Q1 2019 "Kickoff" . This will be followed up by another series of partial changes and layoffs or "changes of mind" by MH around July 5th when he and the rest of the top brass get back from July 4th holiday.

June is historically a "nothing gets done" month at Oracle. Lots of pomp and circumstance around training for the new year (read: updated "company line" sales pitch training to push products and messaging du jour) while the rest of the company takes vacation to get ready for the rest of the year's constant series of direction changes. There will be more around August or September. This is life at Oracle. Nothing changes in reality because its too hard to change the systems and the territories MH set up. Whatever does change (people-wise) is just a veneer over the underlying quagmire of company BS and conventional wisdom du jour. New mid-level and upper-level management (just below the top brass) is hired in every year only to become disillusioned around a year and a half later when they find out they have no real authority to do anything and that whatever good they do is quickly undermined or stopped entirely by MH or SC. Those two are like little wrecking balls slowing destroying Oracle one decision after another. LE is out trying to find the fountain of youth while Oracle is burning.

@Tpfz6NG-1tvd What group are you in?

How many are in your group?

I'm sorry this is happening to you. When one door closes, another one opens. Think positive. :) And post whatever info you feel safe sharing about your organization and its numbers that you are able.

I received an email about a "business direction meeting" by a director with mandatory attendance on 31st. Sounds like head choping coming.

This isn't sounding like the RIFs last summer and fall where there were lots of specific rumors.

Either, nothing big is being planned, or management is being cut and they are keeping the information very quiet.

I tend to think they won't layoff management, so I'm leaning towards nothing too big happening.

Managers are GODS at Oracle.... sick, perverted and weird gods.

Sales layoffs will occur sometime, they won't bring hubs online without laying off sales force.

It won’t happen May 31. It’s all planned for the following week.

15,000 people will chew up what they have left in the 10k. With attrition, it could be less since they don’t have to pay out as much severance.

It won’t just be bottom feeders this time. You will see a large chunk of management go too. It’s one reason this has been kept so quiet and under wraps. I wouldn’t be shocked to even see a lot of HR folks go in this one. They need to cut a lot of staff that doesn’t directly interact with customers.

I agree with the last post. I also believe that layoffs will be big for some LOB but relatively small compare to the size of Oracle.

as usual, "big" must be related to a metrics, since it is not a number by itself.

if the metrics is Oracle overall, i.e. more than 130k employees, the RIFs started may 1st and ending jun 30th will be small, very small, to the point of being almost not existant.

if the metrics is the LOB affected by those RIFs, then the word "big" is correct. HW LOB (sales and presales) is gone, very few people remaining, something close to 75% reduction (and in my simple mind, this is a BIG layoff). next in turn will be HW ACS/OCS (RIF expected during this CY).

in sept17 almost all HW engineering was laidoff, close to 90% of people. it was BIG, so big that that ES-boya was forced to layoff people with a phone call, but those stupid "fake news" bots were here. now it is again something similar, and again those stupid "fake news" bots are here.

How many employees does Oracle have now if you add he ones reporting to the 2 CEOs + LE on Area? 120K-130K? Even if 3K are being let go this week, I think that less than a couple hundred total will make it to this board to report.

The layoff on Thursday will be YUGE!

Nonsense.

There will be some layoffs sure, but Oracle will do their damnedest to spread it out over weeks & months. After all, appearances need to be maintained.

So, huge layoff is predicted for Thursday. How huge? Not just sales and hardware? Are we talking all positions in all product lines are in jeopardy? What’s the impact on HCM fusion development?
