Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Talk about a crappy start to day

This was not the news I was hoping to wake up to. Now I keep obsessively refreshing Google to see if an article with a list of affected stores has surfaced.

I think our store is among the better performing ones, but if I've learned something on this forum, it's that no matter how much a store earns, it is not guaranteed to stay open.

Good luck all.

chi - Don’t think DM visit is an accurate predictor. Our DM lives in same town & visits every week or two.

If any DM is visiting your store this week or next then you are closing

They have finalized the list weeks in advance. They just need to notify associates before breaking the list. I’m guessing east coast employees have been notified. Now just waiting for it to hit out west. Once all stores have been notified the list will break.

It's not...there's at least 2 that you can pickup merchandise from (technically) that are definitely closing.

@vzm - Sounds like they haven't yet finalized the list of 72 stores to close. It's due to be released sometime this afternoon. I'm not sure if it would be an accurate indicator in this case.

If your store isn't available for customers to choose for online order pickups this morning, your store is done. It is always a reliablle sign.
