Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

When did it start?

Is there truly anyone left that enjoys working for this company anymore?

The life is literally been s---ed out of me. I use to love it. Not only did I drink the Verizon Kool-aid, I served it up to others. I was proud. Satisfied. Now regardless of the channel there are layoffs happening every month.

I understand layoffs happen even though I believe some could have been prevented with better business plans however the thing that bothers me the most is how many others are out here that hate this company too.

It wasn't always like this. What happened?

How are good people let go and then DM's who do nothing literally NOTHING but treat employees like garbage allowed to stay?

It's sad but true. More and more acting roles assigned to Assistant Managers to poison their minds into thinking they got a chance at succeeding as a GM. All to find out that the Corporate world (Dm's and above) have already hand picked the next successor and making it seem like the individual earned it. The lies from the Dm's and above are literally spoon fed to the employees all while looking into the eyes of individuals who have given so much of their lives to Verion. Loyalty of our customers mean more to the company than loyalty from an employee. I remember the pride I had starting with verizon and now I'm just another employee number that clocks in and out. Verizon is about politics...its a poll of who is the most liked, other people's opinions of your work ethics and you working like a dog to prove what? Then they wonder why people are looking at unions. Stop treating people like sh--!

vuxt-

Same thing in my office the only time you see anyone laughing or smiling is when someone is cracking jokes about how bad things have become, bashing management or talking about going union. Maybe we work in the same office?

Sounds like it's time for another "anonymous" third party employee survey!

27 years in VZW here. I warned all my peers at the time of the Vodaphone buyout that once we lose our autonomy and are completely assimilated by the mother ship things will really begin to s---. I wish I was wrong, I am 5 years from retirement and I absolutely hate getting out of bed in the morning during the week, a complete 180 from the pre buyout days. All of the passion and pride for this place has died, now I just clock watch. I work in a building with about 80 other people, they’re all miserable too. You can see it everyday on their faces, no one shows up early or expresses any excitement and are running for the parking lot everyday at 5pm Sharp! Everyone now just spends their time checking boxes. This was just another M&A exercise for the leadership but I don’t think they’ll ever realize (or admit to) just how badly they screwed up.

I used to love this job but now they are using intimidation tactics on us in sales and trying to coach out people who refuse to outright lie and deceive customers. Then they changed commissions and now we are poised to work twice as hard for less money.

I'm with you. Been with vzw almost 5 yrs. Loved going to work the first 3. Now the customers are few and far between. Make alot less money and most of the day is spent listening to customers complain

Wireless was bought back from Vodafone, and the culture that Wireless had was killed by Landline.
