Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Nothing as such ....

letting go 200 to 300 out of 140k is not even consider for a layoff, but take it as a change in strategy, it wont be easy for all the deadwoods to wait for a paycheck without disruption.

instead of calling people deadwood take a hard look at yourselff and what you do. You think you are competent if you are the go to person? chances are you have a privilege others do not have thus they go to you or it is just your role or they need someone to do their job so they "look" competent. Many roles are redundant here, that would be the main reason. Different people gatekeeping different parts of the silos all the way up to the VPs. Just silos waiting to be cull.

The layoffs in MDC were based on product and budget, not competency.

Can't speak for other locations but everyone that got hit at MDC was top notch and worked hard. There was no dead wood prior to the WFR.

You're a complete jerk. Deadwood? The ones that were impacted in my group were the hardest workers, full stop. The ones who who were kept were in the "old boys" network where their manager took care of them. Complete sycophants.
