Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Nothing will happen

I'm willing to bet that tomorrow will come and go without any major layoffs at Oracle. I just feel sorry for the people who got all worried and anxious when we have no indication that May 31 rumors are anything but exactly that, rumors.

Save your nerves for actual layoffs, people. We all know they will be coming, and we'll know in advance wen they are due.

Obviously there is a lot going on today. Some additionally in the couple of weeks before this.

I suspect that the layoffs are very under-reported on here as there are not that many people posting to this site. I can't see how the actual numbers can be known from just a few posts on here.

OP: you should maybe reconsider your bet.

given the amount of farewell mails, ther have been hundreds of layoffs today, presales from HW and App, and more to come in the next week.

I think you could do it right now. Just need an answering machine on the end of an HR number. Answering machine asks you to leave your name. Then you just put that person on the layoff list, all problems solved.

If it is any confort, soon AI will be able to perform 90% of HR duties.

HRs are mostly robots so replacing them by a chatbot and an automailer would not be a loss.

I hate HR people for this very reason. These are people's livelihoods you are messing with. At least have the decency to shut up then spread disinformation like you are in the old Soviet politburo. I really hope karma hits you HR pigs right between the eyes.

I was there, May 31st, 2017. Nobody had a clue about what was going to happen. My boss absolutely refused to talk about it, saying 'they didn't tell me anything, but I'm sure we'll be fine'. BS. Went to sleep having no idea if I would have a job come morning.

The next day, 60%+ of my team was RIF'd, including my boss and 2 of his peers. The 'lucky survivors' were arbitrarily moved to other teams, without having a say on the matter. I'm just glad I moved to another company where we're not treated like chess pieces, to be moved and sacrificed at the king's whim.

Meant to say "When 1000+ got laid off on 9/1/17...."

Also, @TrklXX4...Oracle never announces layoffs in advance, nor confirms them after they happen. When 1000+ got laid off in multiple offices in the U.S. and some overseas, it was radio silence from Redwood Shores.

@TrklXX4, you're full of cr1p. People have already posted here within the past 24 hours that they've gotten notices of mandatory meetings and FedEx delivery notifications of packages coming from Oracle. Take your HR dog and pony show elsewhere.
