The time is ripe to organize wireless. They are tired of having their benefits erode to offset management greed and blunders. Commission cuts. Retiree discount cuts. Accessory discount cuts. What's next? I'll bet it won't be executive compensation, corporate fleet or executive headcount. Right Lowell?

With 5G, wireline won’t be obsolete for many, many years. You wireless guys really don’t get how wireless works do you? It’s not fairy dust, at its core, it needs wires. And you don’t quite get how our pension works, either. Whether it ever became insolvent or cut would be irrelevant to us. Why? Because we get it upon walking out the door. That’s right, the whole thing in one lump sum, plus medical. So we’re not relying on anything company related, only our own investment choices.

Guess what...so have we. But not only ours, we have been investing some of THEIR money as well in the form of a 401(k) match, we have our pension ON TOP OF THAT. Are you really OK with working for a company most of your life and upon your retirement the only thing that company gives you is a hearty “thanks”? You say to yourself, “Whew, good thing I was able to put some of MY money aside and not spend it on my kids, or date night, or a vacation, or just something frivolous, because I would have nothing now for my golden years.”
Wireless doesn’t need a union. They will close all of the stores soon anyway. Does McDonald’s have a union? Repeat after me...”do you want fries with that”?
The union is always in the market for more dues to spend until they can offer you newbies up as a concession during the contract negotiations.

And the guy with 10 years doesn't have a pension either, union or not. So what exactly does a union do for me? I know I help fund Guido's summer home, but what do I get if I am a new union hire?

EWA pretty much showed how useless a union is in america in the modern age. there is no skill set, someone can learn your job in two weeks

Right. Just like when you go to the pork palace. There are thousands of people doing very little except eating and exercising. All of your days are numbered especially the person that writes code. I would rather put 2 wires together than have a machine do my job. Do not be jealous of the Unions. You were better than us wireline pukes. Boy have you been duped. Enjoy your retirement without a pension.

The unions days are numbered just like wireline employees days are numbered with their obsolete skill set that is useless to any modern day employerer.
You all know it and that's why you hate wireless and that is why you are all angry all the time.
Yeah I sit in front of a computer and write code. I wouldn't expect someone with arbitrary skills like connecting two wires together to even begin to be able to comprehend what I do.
But don't worry about my job because I get paid a lot and there are jobs everywhere for someone like me now and forever. I don't need to pay some union cartel to protect me.

You are an employee 'at will', they tell you that when you are hired. If they 'will' you not to be there anymore you will have to move on to another company. VZ owes you nothing once your job is no longer required.
I love the way most of you rip the unions. Especially the ones that actually had to work for a living. Sitting behind a computer or going to meetings does justify your jobs. I have been in those buildings. It is all make myself seem busy work. Stop blaming the unions. You are the one out of a job.
I saw firsthand the mentality of union workers when I was on EWA strike duty. Work ethic, fairness, decency, and compassion for fellow human beings all played second fiddle to to the mentality that somebody else owed them something and they better be taken care of by that somebody else because they have more money.
EWA made me sad to work for a company that put workers out in the field that had no business being out there, but I was even sadder to see how atrocious human beings could treat fellow human beings.
During my time on EWA, I heard the same union lines over and over about corporate greed, and executives making so much money, but I'm curious how much money the top union people make, as well as their education level and their skillset.
To hell with the wireless,the didnt support the union from the begining ,so now that they are all losing there JERBS afyer 15-20 years of service,woh is me,,to hell with them
