I’m not sure about other sears on the ring fenced list, but I thought this particular property had to be sold and the proceeds go to the pension fund

Traverse City was also a ring fence property AFAIK. The (already dead) mall the TC Sears is in (Cherryland Center) is also in the process of losing Younkers and lost Kmart last year.
So? From the beginning of the "ring-fenced" list, several of the properties on it were already empty buildings.
