Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

CFO Workspace Optimization

The CFO group is re-aligning their footprint by moving employees to newly designed 'collaborative" workspaces. If you will be impacted what are your thoughts on this? I don't like giving up a private cube for a seat at some long table where I have to stare at the person in front of me all day. And I will get a locker to put my things in like some middle school kid. Seriously? The Execs at the place have completely lost their minds!

I’ve worked in that environment at another bank and it was a little odd at first but I got used to it. Eavesdropping becomes a way of life. They had lots of little huddle rooms people could go in for private conversations or a longer meeting or discussion. Yes we had lockers. Yes we could sit in a different place every day. I ended up really liking it.

@TsjlbV1-2tou - not sure your demographics are accurate but it does seem like they are trying to get people to retire or leave without severance. Of course, the retaliatory move is to decrease productivity just enough to not give a justification for firing. Remember, two can play this game.

It’s happening at the 401 North Tryon Street building.

And in what location is this happening? WF in CLT seems like a ghost town. I heard DR did a walk thru recently. Any changes coming there to make an already depressing office environment worse?

Will you no longer have your own laptop?

This is to weed out overweight, obese and Old folks who have been working for 50 years at the Bank and refuse to retire unless they get a severance package! Hopefully they will reconsider and retire now, given they are 70+ and barely stand up or stay awake

Generally this kind of work environment is fine, but if one person comes to work sick it tends to spread through the office fairly quickly.

Better invest in some noise cancelling headphones and be prepared to deal with odors, loud talkers, and noisy people. They don’t even allow us to have trash cans in my collaboration space.

Welcome to the new world order. The excuse they will use is this is what millennials like. It become a loud environment not conducive to serious work. But if you are a social butterfly it is a dream come true
