SSS/SSI/MSI roles

I am trying to plan a career change within WFM and have been trying to figure out our tech support model. I may move to another region and am wondering if this support model is found in all regions.

In our region we have the following structure:

*SSS (part time) - Conducts pricing audits, weight audits, prints tags, checks scale price batches, assists in minor tech issues, reports next tier tech issues to MSIs through orchard. Usually has second role in store to make full time (receiving, PBP, cashup, front end, etc.)

*SSI (full time) - Only found in remote locations not covered by MSIs. Fulfills SSS duties, some store admin duties, plus handles tech issues including those assigned to MSI regional SME group.

*MSI (full time) - works from home store, but goes on the road to cover orchard tickets reported in pod. Covers weekly shift in regional office supporting office staff, once a week is in the "hot seat" covering tickets escalated by the global help desk.

SSS is now a full time position, or it is split between two or more people.

The NA region is starting to use a third party contractor to fulfill the MSI roles as they quit. No new MSIs or SSIs are being hired to backfill empty positions, at least in NA.

Amazon hasn’t come in full force yet it will change WF dramatically at some point.

It's all just window dressing at this point. I just got back from a trip to Aldi and I'm loving the organic spring mix, organic fat-free milk, sprouted bread, nitrite-free sliced meat, organic black beans, fire-roasted organic salsa, organic Asian ginger salad dressing, store brand French wine selections and fresh Florida-grown tomatoes. They seem to get it done just fine without a high-priced PR machine or hundreds of regional nincompoops walking around acting important. And the store was full of families and dudes like me who aren't looking to spend time hanging around paying hundreds of dollars more for the same stuff. Tell me again that this $14 billion used and broken down yacht was a wise investment for Amazon.

SSS has always been full-time in the PNW.

From what I could get out of what was said it seems that way. But you never know with leadership they flip flop on everything.

Is SSS really going full time?

That's the structure in the MW region. Although I'll join the others in saying be wary of doing something like relocating for one of these positions. It is very possible they'll be eliminated/restructured in the not to distant future.

That's not to say the experience wouldn't be beneficial and all that. I'd just have a plan in case your job goes away and you've just moved to a new area.

I wouldn't even bother with those positions at the moment plus Amazon will hopefully wipe out all existing programs because they s---.

I'd bet all of those positions will go away within the next year
