Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How many vendor have we lost?

How many vendors are still shipping to SHC and how many are now leaving? It seems like everything is out of stock or we have vendor issues. Our store is getting more and more off brand items and items that are just junk. What is the deal?

The $3.00 no name/ no image/ nearly blank packaging toilet paper is actually not bad for the price. Works for me and we have been selling the heck out of it

Ha! I made the mistake of buying the Harmony paper towels, too. Just awful. The Smart Sense ultra strong paper towels, on the other hand, are actually some of the best store brand paper towels I've ever found. The Harmony toilet paper isn't as bad, but not as soft as Smart Sense. Haven't tried any of the many other strange brands of toilet paper that have showed up.

Lol...I bought some 'Harmony' paper towels at Kmart a few weeks ago and I think using a 1 ply facial tissue would have held up better. So much no name crap (I saw a pack of toilet paper with no brand at all..it looks like it was meant for prison use) Or a random pack of printer paper with some made up brand name and zero other information on the package. Bic lighters? Long gone, but there's some packs of 'MK' lighters floating around...it makes Big Lots look like Nordstrom next to Kmart.

It's really hard to clamp down exact numbers. Especially because different vendors have taken different routes in limiting exposure.

Some vendors walked away from doing business with Sears years before the average person realized Sears was dead.

Others left while the news was watching.

Many others have taken other avenues, limiting stock, requiring different terms, or basically playing games.

That said there are always vendors looking to sign up, and crazy schemes to employ. Some of them actually profitable.

A better evaluation of health, is relationships with premier vendors... and that really depends on departments.

Electronics typically had strained relationships with most good TV vendors (from what I understand) on the flip side Sears had some great relationships with some Tire vendors.... well once a certain person left the company.

Either way last I saw the overall situation wasn't good.
