Seems like significant cuts have already been made across most areas of the company. Where else could management cut without significantly impacting the existing revenue stream?

Still wonder how many were given 30 days to find a new role - who still show on the books?

2 of my buddies were let go from services sales and support EMEA last week. I think Oracle learned from IBM and isn't doing big noticeable layoffs. Instead, people are being let go in small numbers (less than 5 per MU team) to remain under the radar.

The package is good so they're not complaining now. Their skill sets will need a major refresh if they want to find a job.

The problem is that customers don't want to renew services or support contracts. Many have moved to AWS or Azure. Also, many are using 3rd party support like Rimini Street to save money on Oracle's expensive but inefficient support.

It might be true, then again it might not. None of the other big layoff predictions came to pass.

Post by THE GREAT OZ is 100% on the money .

The OP could be a false flag post to wreck the board's credibility. One thing Oracle will NOT do is to make it easy to anticipate their layoffs or lack of same. Any large, conspicuous action would probably have to wait until after the FY18 numbers are announced to avoid telegraphing the results.

I suspect the OP is a troll trying to make this board look bad.

Reality is there has been very good information here. It's difficult to predict what Oracle will do at any time, but Oracle is continuing to layoff people.

As the customers flee, more people will need to be laid off.

Oracle is a losing game. If you are competent, you should seriously get a job elsewhere.

"You fake news/false alarm/boy who cried wolf people crack me up. "

The people who keep moving out their doomsday dates crack me up even more. They remind me of religious fanatics who keep predicting the day the world will end, and when their prediction turns out to be false, they come up with a new one.

What's the big one? 200 or 20K?

And what's your concrete evidence this time?

It's not nearly as entertaining without the some details backing up your bullsheet Nostradamus.

Keep the momentum and morale high for the on-coming layoffs.

Please keep this place off junk/fake news until Aug 31.

You fake news/false alarm/boy who cried wolf people crack me up.

There WERE layoffs this past week and in recent weeks before that. Just because 10,000-20,000 weren’t RIFd in one day does not make the layoffs less real. Oracle doesn’t roll that way. It’s going to be death by 1,000 “cuts” for the foreseeable future, because cost cutting, screwing existing customers, and suing other companies are pretty much the main tools in ORCL’s arsenal.

Me thinks it’s another false alarm, but let’s get everyone all worked up again over yet another phony RIF.
