Before Atlanta, it was Austin.
About a two years ago: all employees in there quit, and of course told about it to all the others in the very area. Not a single new skilled app developer ever came to work there for Hon, after that, except for a few unskilled Indian folks. Absolute mess. All due to mgmt behavior, due to a set of specific people through the ranks (can't list names here, but sure most of us do know exactly who) and also due to many Hon processes. The few Fellows that tried to make a name on the project, back in the time, pushed to make things ever worse. They very well know. What a show it was. No need to vent it here.
In fact, Austin was the same as the previous person describes what the Atlanta is at the moment.
Note that it used to be Austin who did work on the very "Lyric" App - the very App that have indeed killed Homes and brought all this mess !
Now the app is done by India, and well could not s*ck more.
See its rating on the app stores.
Funny fact: They've paid for a reset (!) but it always came back to the worst ratings. Repeatedly. For a reason LOL.
Go read the comments there - and then, how funny it gets to read the headline Hon does push to the customers (yourhome.honeywell.com) - "Take comfort in knowing the company that helped put a man on the moon also built this thermostat".
1] Basically all the connected thermostats (except the honeybadger, won't touch this with a mile long stick) were engineered in Brno CZ EU (talk globalization now), and none of these people ever got to do anything with a Moon Flight (yes, I know it is an eufemism, but yet, the stupidity of the marketing people just hurts my brain)
2] All the thermostats are physically built in MX, that might be the only location worth keeping by the new owner - all the other locations can easily be thrown away as these bring nothing useful to the mix
3] The total wreck - the mobile app - have been agressively pushed forward by the very people who destroyed Homes
4] All the testing was deliberately skipped and test reports ignored and often falsified by mgmt
5] We had many people speaking up about what was wrong, but were deliberately ignored - the whole thing, in a retrospective, closely resembles an active sabotage, yesss
All in all, sry for the long post, but just don't bother with Atlanta. Not worth it.
Hon tries to move itself to a Software-Only field. Empty handed. New uneducated kid on the block. All the smart guys that have their signatures in the SVN through the real code are GONE and do work somewhere else (Hello Google Nest).
Also, note that nowadays there are people through Hon, claiming results of the old teams (Sentience - china, india - stealing code and "simply" renaming it, yet having no idea how it works). Poor customers . . . (what customers ? haha gone).
This whole thing will fail spectaculary.
Hope the new companies will do a deep dive and see that the whole Spin is a charade.
Same for the software guys, Atlanta and such.
Every bubble will burst, one day - and the more later it does, the bigger burst it will be.
Grabbing popcorn....
All in all -
Get out while you can, get a job where they will appreciate your unique skills
(unless you are one of the people who brought the disaster in a first place,
in fact the most of the people who remained in Hon are exactly the people who destroyed it).
Atlanta is there just and only because Hon got a huge tax relief and a huge $ subvention. No other reason. But only if they will stay "active" there for a couple of years. (I bet they will close it right the next day).
