Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Be careful if this is you

The standard is if you've been with the company 20 years, you are over the age of 40, and you make more than 60 - consider yourself available to be toast.

Exactly what was said here. If you can tick of two (or God forbid three) of these categories, you can count that you are on borrowed time here.

Our people are being coached out, if you don't offer everything every time you get a bad coaching, 4 bad coachings and you're written up. Anyone in my store has yet to see a positive coaching, only bad ones, didn't offer hum to pissed off lady whose b--ching her bill is to much, should have shown her the value....FML.

with the new comp plans us that work at retail location will be destined to quit on our own term, this is their way to make us quit without paying a severance pkg.

When I was RIFd after 25 years with the company, another under-performing employee, who abused FLMA among other things, volunteered to be let go but Human Resources wouldn't allow it....There is no rhyme or reason to their layoff methods other than they did target older employees; many from legacy companies, i.e. Cellular One and Airtouch.

I wish they would allow those of us that want to leave the option for a package and go! I’ve been w the company a longggg time and it’s obvious w these new changes Verizon’s time is ticking...

60 after 20? Less than 5 over 90

They have to throw in a few younger folks to make the RIF numbers look better. The company absolutely violated age discrimination rules and it's not the first time. They want to be a hip, young, techy company like Google.

There is no standard. When I was let go in 2015 in a reduction I was 29 and with the company around 6 years.

We received a file that showed people (without names) that were also let go within the reduction. Showed aged and years of service. It was all over the place.
