Getting run out of Intel

I'm 52 been at Intel for 10 years at the higher end of the pay grade. I'm getting the feeling my new boss is going to try to build a case to fire me. (Any boss can build a case to fire any employee) Granted, I've had enough of the BK BS, but I'd like to walk out the door with as much cash as possible. Any suggestions?

OP doesn't have to wait 6.5 years for the Rule of 75 @2hry. There are more rules than that (some apparently think it's the only Rule to retire under).

There is also the rule of 55 so all he has is 5 years left (which can feel like an eternity). He needs to be age 55 and have at least 15 years of service. That's the rule I retired under as the Rule of 75 required I stay at Intel longer. I went for the one that got me out the soonest. lol

Here are the rules per Intel's retiree site:

To meet U.S. retirement eligibility requirements, you must meet one of the following definitions:

Age 65—Be at least 65 years old with no minimum years of service requirement (normal retirement age)

55 & 15—Be at least 55 years old and complete at least 15 years of eligible service

Rule of 75—Satisfy the requirements of the Rule of 75, which means the combined total of your age plus your length of service (both calculated in completed, whole years) is equal to or greater than the number 75

you have another 6.5yrs for your rule of 75. Either put up and work for 6.5yrs or go find another job. Stop whining

OP, sooner rather than later Intel will kick you out.. its not a matter of if, its when.. your best bet is to find a government job.. so you can go rest in peace.. its takes 6-12 months to get a state job.. start now.. good luck..

Let your team mates, friends & colleagues you know of whats happening. Thr managers peers ought to be told if you can trust them. They could be the best source of insights...the more dirt he tries, the more soiled he wud get. Expose him

You needed to ACT

OP bruh, 2016 ACT was the last time Intel offered juicy packages. I got out with a cart full of money, more than a year's pay from my huge VSP after 15 years employment. Consider yourself lucky if you got 2 or 3 months pay now.

@rjo- ok. Intel will not be given packages equivalent to 2016 so you better have a plan B. Old timers are clinging thinking there will be packages in the future are delusional. Deal with it!

"but I'd like to walk out the door with as much cash as possible. Any suggestions?"

You should of taken ERP or VSP if it was offered to you back in 2016. Packages days are over with as Intel is in the red when it comes to debt.

OP, having gone through this process with folks that really deserved to be fired, one key reminder: the HR person works for and will protect the interests of the corporation. They won’t contemplate a vendetta, a poor manager, lack of resources, etc etc. Their job is to see you out the door with minimal risk of a lawsuit. They are not your friend, no matter how nice they seem.

Best scenario is to find another job before you're laid-off. Once you're laid off you may be perceived as a failure within Intel. If you plan to retire or take a break there is really not much you can do or play with except quietly wait for your Focal SSL4/5 result.

There are no guarantees that you will get any compensation. You may just have to s--- it up, find another job first, then tell them to kiss your a-- on the way out the door. Don't go to HR!!! Please!! They are firmly in the camp of the management! They talk a good game with employees, but know where their bread is buttered. They could care less about helping any employees. Much easier just to have mgmt dictate to them who to fire. Simple lap dogs.

Steal from the petty cash jar. It is the only way you will get out of here with any money.
