Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Tommorows Layoffs

I’m a store manager and I can tell you for a fact there is NO NO layoffs tomorrow. Sadly no one knows if there won’t be some in the future. But leads you will have a job tommorow, especially since most stores (in my district) had over a 40% sales increase from last year. Stop worrying people please it’s just petty...

You will always have both sides of the coin blasted here, because you have company trollers and sm's denying the truth, and the workers telling the truth. Just like oil and water, folks.

There’s a mall in Lima Ohio with that layout. Don’t recall who the anchor was. Must s--- when the anchor closes.

@uqp "The store was in the middle of a very busy mall. You had to go through Sears to get from one end of the mall to the other."

Wow, that was a prime location! Very rare layout. Anchors are 'always' at the far ends of hallways.

I worked in a Sears store that was a 2 million dollar a year EBITA store. Eddie closed the store and sold the building too the mall. We were told he did this because it would take him 10 years to make that money back. The store was in the middle of a very busy mall. You had to go through Sears to get from one end of the mall to the other. That town no longer has a Sears or Kmart and it is in the second largest city in the state. The largest city in the state only has 1 Sears store and no Kmarts. Sales have NO meaning on weather a store stays open or not.

So I guess the person who posted that she got fired today is fake news, right?

We were told the same thing in our Sears store and they came in the next week and announced we were closing. Ya, I really believe the SM is in the loop. What a joke.

I’m a store manager and I can tell you for a fact there is NO NO layoffs tomorrow SO op, are you telling us that there ARE layoffs today? , The proper punctuation should be ........I’m a store manager and I can tell you for a fact there is NO, NO layoffs tomorrow People would have understood if you used proper punctuation because the layoffs are indeed happening.

Please. As a store manager, do you really think you are in the loop? Frankly, it would be amazing karma if you were the one to get canned today....

Sales have nothing to do with whether or not a store closes, we have all seen this from past store closures. Bottom line is this, it has to so with the value of the property. I wish management would stop saying if you are up in credit, PAs etc., your store is safe because that's just not the case.

Interesting.....the OP gets called out and called a liar on this post for stating no layoffs on 7/5....and then on the separate "End is sooner than you think" post , that OP gets blasted for saying that layoffs are indeed happening on 7/5.....Both sides of the coin get blasted here.

The SMs are a loyal bunch to themselves and the DMs

They’ll tell you not to listen to the naysayers, exciting things are going to happen, then WHAM your store is closing

You obviously haven't remembered all of the times where corporate handed down layoff orders to the store managers THE SAME DAY they were supposed to take place!

They don't tell anybody about the layoffs until the last minute including the store managers. They don't want to tell the store managers until the day of because at least a few of them would tell whoever is affected without thinking or as a courtesy and those that are due to be laid off would have an opportunity to sabotage things out of spite, steal or do whatever else if they are so inclined. I'm not saying that everybody who is getting the axe would do this but it happens more often than you think. Store managers have leaked info on layoffs before so now the decision makers will tell everyone at the last minute. I'd imagine the same thing happens at corporate, even more so because there is much more at stake to leave to a disgruntled employee who is learning that he or she will be laid off.

You can bet that if these rumors turn out to be spot on, there will be a huge and very interesting meeting about leaks at corporate, since it sounds like a corporate drone leaked the layoffs. It might be one of the few times Eddie Lampert makes an appearance on the projector screen, yelling and screaming at the corporate drones and middle managers, because obviously these are plans no one should know until the last minute. Sad to say, but that's how the working world works today.

You are a liar. There is nothing nice to say about Sears management. NO district had stores with a 40% increase. I know as I work in HE. Period.

All Sears managers are filthy liars. You're just mad because you're not used to getting called out. I'm not one of your associates you pay minimum wage and work like a dog while you mas----ate in your office.

"most stores (in my district) had over a 40% sales increase from last year. "

This alone proves you are a liar, like most other Sears managers.
