@2int LOL, that proves upper mgmt didn't/doesn't even keep track of which stores they didn't finish the WiFi rollout in!

I remember one time that the bigwigs flew in for a meeting at our store. They set up camp in the training room and requested the wifi code. WiFI code? We don't have WIFi. Cue the deer in the headlight look from the DM who set up the meeting. Yeah, they didn't use our store again after that.

Walmart destroyed Sears and Kmart. Amazon is just finishing them off

My store in michigan does not have WiFi 😢

You would have thought sears would have done that for the customer at the very least

@mye Almost all companies time your moves in a warehouse, including Sears/Innovel. There are corporate engineers that come and do time studies on how long every freight move should take and your performance is measured against this. Ask any Sears DC associate about ProRep.

WiFi was supposed to end up in all corporate Sears stores years ago, but maybe they abandoned that project before finishing nationwide, as Sears often does. I've been to 3 mall Sears and they all have WiFi, FWIW. I think the initial rollout was related to the iPad initiative, but since then it's also been needed for any stores that have the electronic price signs for appliances.

We don't have and never have had wifi in our store. How many other stores have no wifi?

@U0yyyEs-nly Its what I don't get this is capitalism. If anyone should be blaming Sears is Sears themselves. They had an empire they were giants, but they were sleeping and not investing in their own stores modernizing them. So much potential gone to waste where Sears didn't do anything to compete in the market. Jeff Bezos honestly had to have worked or had family members that worked in customer service and he knows happy customers will come back and spend their money their. Thats how it works.

I love how everyone blames Amazon, when Amazon is just doing exactly what Sears did to make Sears so huge back in the day! Good prices, good service and easy access to products. Sears did this with the mail order catalog a lifetime ago, driving out local general stores, because people had options. Amazon isn't nearly as big of a problem as everyone says it is, at least not for the reasons they say it is... you can't compete with Amazon? No, Amazon shouldn't have been able to compete with Sears or Walmart. Its not like Amazon invented online shopping, and held some patent keeping Sears from selling online, they just did it better.... much, much better.

Amazons pricing didn't reflect years of being the only game in town, Sears was taken down by the same thing they took down General stores with years ago, "another option."

Amazon reinvests in themselves, where are SearsHC looks to extract value, so don't hate on Amazon for doing the right things, hate on the Sears upper management and Eddie, for thinking they could keep getting away with doing the wrong things and having us pay for it.

@wts Wow, that's lame. They provide free WiFi in all stores for any customer who wanders by with a smartphone, so they're certainly in no position to be calling personal use of their Internet service 'stealing'. Not to mention discouraging employees from actually showing up early, when they have problems getting some employees to show up at all.

Amazon times your every move but SHC watches your every move. Remote cameras are all over the place. I was in early one day and was reading the news on the store computer and the manager got a call to say that I was surfing the web on company time. My manager informed the person who called that I was not on the clock and they replied that I was using the companies internet for personal use and that could be considered stealing. What a company!!!

I'm very happy buying from Amazon. The customer service is way better than that which I received in person from Sears. The selection is much better and I know if what I want is in stock (and it usually is.) If what I get isn't how it was described, a couple clicks and UPS picks it up for a refund.

Online sales are still only about 10% of all retail sales in the US. About half of all US online sales do go through Amazon.

Very good article

When there is only amazon out there and nobody can go to stores to actually touch and see what they are buying, I hope all the people that order off amazon are happy

I wd never work at amazon because it’s a totally different atmosphere and they time your every move no thanks!

I’d much rather work at sears.. a lot of good people are loosing their jobs and it’s really sad
