CARQUEST Pride vs. Advance

Ever notice how the people that came from CARQUEST speak about their former company with pride? Those guys had careers and did whatever necessary to be successful and attain goals, yet have fun in the process. Their annual turnover rate was never outside of a single digit percentage. When is the last time anyone at AAP spoke in a sincerely positive manner? Sure you get management putting on a happy game face, but do they really believe in what they are saying? AAP has a 60% + annual turnover rate, management that no one respects at any level, commercial pricing that changes so often that the CAMs cannot explain-to their customers, and a career path that leads to no where.

And anyone works here why???

Advance has never cared about commercial business and never will. They are perfectly content selling Betty Boop keychains and Tinkerbell floormats because they can make 1000% on them. Since the buyout, all AAP has done is completely destroy the CQ name and brand. The current DM in the area is only concerned about your shirt being tucked in, and if you're wearing your name tag. He could give a rat's a-- if your sales are good and if you have knowledge & experience. Just another guy who was handed a job based on who he knows and not because of his knowledge of the business. Also, the current wave of revamping company policies seems like the work of the Gestapo.

In closing, it's awful that AAP squandered the opportunity to enjoy years of success by keeping the CQ brand as the commercial side and AAP as the retail side.

Oh well, life goes on.....

The new reality of Advance is you now fight for hours if you are part time, and if you are lucky enough to be fulltime, you fight for decent health care. The only thing this company cares about is their stock price, seriously, nothing else matters to them.

I have been reading comments on here for some time but never posted till now. I started in autoparts with a small regional company that got bought out by another company and eventually by carquest. I left after that to go work at western auto. Worked in the shop, and parts counter then sears closed our shop and changed us to parts america which sales dropped and then they sold us to advance. I will never forget our first meeting with advance senior management at the time. He told us we respect your history as western auto but you are now advance auto parts! Not sure if or where this was lost with everyone but just like western auto we are advance now! the more we work together the better we will be and if not well what is being said on here will happen because you let your pride in the way and we have much bigger fish to fry than fighting over which company was better. respect the past , fight for the future

Who cares? Times change and people need to make decisions. If you stay at AAP you are already a DA.

The smart ones left long ago. Once the herd is thinned, the leftovers are generally the result of inbreeding.

I think all this about pride and turnover is something AAP has no concern or understanding about whatsoever! They never have understood the value of a professional!

I have noticed that too. In my area, most of the Carquest people are long gone and work for my competition. When they left they also took what little commercial customers that we had. Now all I do is fight with the autozone store on how low I can sell oil changes and do parking lot services for nothing.
