Kroger adding 250 jobs in Florence KY distribution center

Kroger Co. is making a $17 million investment in its distribution center in Florence and plans to add hundreds of new jobs.

Kroger (NYSE: KR) is ramping up production its distribution facility on Mt. Zion Road and will create 250 new jobs. The 674,000-square-foot distribution center, located at 251 E. Mount Zion Road, currently has 80 employees. The facility opened in October 2017 after Kroger’s $60 million investment in the replenishment center to service the grocer’s direct-to-store distribution centers across the eastern half of the country as well as Kroger’s growing ecommerce and digital business.

Frank Bruni, vice president of supply chain and logistics for Kroger, said the additional investment and jobs will help the company “reach our customers and help to deliver on new ways to shop with Kroger.”

Kroger plans to spend $17.1 million on equipment and nearly $800,000 on building and improvements.

The date is a moving target, I won’t even take a stab! What I will say is it won’t be long now!

Dsd was king, and Mondelez made a lot of money with dsd, but stores want the margins back and we cannot compete with Keebler and their lower prices. Don’t need to be rocket scientist to figure that!

Possible, just not plausible. If you connect the dots from posts....a new distribution center in N. Ky,....West Chester expanding....we may be on to something! Perhaps, just perhaps they will use West Chester to supply the new Peyton warehouse. Which BTW this new warehouse currently houses Keebler and Hostess amongst other things. Built to house dsd. All very coincidental I’m sure!!! My FM just told me they are starting to ship more items from the warehouse, reason for the mass hiring. Odd that we were told Kroger is going cao in July? So many strange coincidences!!! Oh well!! Dsd is king! Right? Right??????? Wrong!!! Profit drives decisions!!!

You know its possible that only Kroger goes warehouse because they actually own there warehouses and for the rest of the country to stay DSD

Haha! It does if you know what they plan to put there!! That’s why in our area the dsd tags all have been assigned a catalogue number! That’s the slot they will go into at the new warehouse!

Get into reality!!! Just another huge red flag!

4800 WM stores and 2800 Kroger stores,

Probably more than half. Even if we say half...if we lose the power of dsd in half the stores, there is zero chance dsd would be affordable! All or nothing!

Other North American stores and all anyone ever talks about is Kroger

Albertsons LLC - 2,400 stores

Ahold Delhaize - 2,265 stores

Publix 1,187 stores

Target 1822 stores

Meijer 242 stores

Wegmans 97

I can't get numbers on some regional chains probably another 1000+ stores.

I know in some areas the regional chains can do as much as Walmart or Kroger in there stores

Can we get some info on those chains?

Kroger and Walmart are big but they are still less then 1/2 our business.

It’s been in Kroger forecast to take back all the aisles!! They already control nearly every aisle now, only a few they don’t!! Won’t be long, we were told by management of Mondelez that Kroger was going CAO in July! Still July now so there is still time!! They are going to roll it out all at once! Just been testing here! Just a matter of time people!!
