Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

AIG 2020 Cost Initiative - Manila

Much is being moved to Manila for the 2020 cost initiative. We have been working with them for about 18 month and if you think IT is bad whoa! Overall just too agreeable to a fault. But you get what you pay for... US IT needs to be more accountable to the business to be effective.

Sad to know. I have few friends who are very committed and passionate with what they do in Manila. Is the restructuring still happening?

Today in Manila, 2 director levels chopped and around 200 staff fired. Mostly from Quality and General Insurance

Watching for any further updates to the ‘August Will Be A Bloodbath’ has not materialized yet that same post indicated layoffs were going to come to those places not considered profit centers and would be far reaching in breadth & scope that post also said the information came from solid sources plead post any updates revolving around these rumors let’s get this thing going thanks 🙏

Usually emailing your files to your personal email address works.

Some let go, some dispersed, only major surprise was who was kept at the manager level. 1 manager (who might be legally retarded) was given a bonus life by being moved from IT to the business.

RIFs in progress for NYC, Berkley Heights NJ, Houston and FTW. Remote employees notified by phone. Most departments having ‘all clear’ meetings if there activities are complete or they are not going to be impacted.

Ironically, there are pop up ads for AIG Direct Insurance in the middle of this thread.

The reduction in force is underway. People are being met with and notified. Eastern rime then will roll west, it seems.

Take cell pics of screens you need with files you can’t get off. That’s about all you can do.

5% of 50k is 2500 peeps. Just sayin.....

As for the "bonus"......it's better than nothing I guess.

No raises for years and the "bonus" for the little guys is not much.

Fixed income is better than no income is the mantra.

Everyone always says it’s worse than it is. Early this year it was “everyone is getting fired and no bonuses”. People got bonuses and less than 5 percent was impacted. So... sky is not falling. It s---s for families impacted and hopefully folks find a new job fast.

Significant IT impact July 11-13. From the sounds of it, it may be worse for those left behind waiting for the final outsourcing to claim them. Folks will be walked out without transitioning.

Manila folks speak perfect English....which is cause for concern for US jobs.

You are correct that the IT issues will be magnified...but not due to language.
