About to leave Intel (validation role) and have an offer from a mid sized company (500). Moving to SD.
What can I ask for a base pay of 100k that i made in Portland. please share your thoughts.
Family of 4. 2 kids wife stay at home & had a small house at Hillsboro.
Can i afford a house in CA?. How Costly is the Buy/Rent.
Why the hell would you want to stay on the overrated, overpriced left coast?!?!
BTW - rent will set you back $3500-4500/month.
You need to be making upwards of $200K to buy into a decent area in SD, anywhere's near Sorrento Valley work area. And it helps if your spouse is working also. That will allow you into areas like 4S Ranch, the new Carmel Valley area. If you want to live closer to downtown expect at least 10% more for your 'affordable' housing needs.
100k in san diego is NOTHING!

If you have an offer, you should already have negotiated the salary. Or you want to go back to further negotiate ?
You haven't checked out the house price and cost of living in SD before you applied, or even considered a move ?
House price can easily be found in zillow.com.
