Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Where else can you work 18 hour weeks for what Oracle will pay?

Repost from another thread. See this mentioned at times.

Any other companies with the same work ethic and approach? We can start applying there.

I think in any large company there will be pockets of people like this, people who work 18 hour weeks.

The description from Dell is very similar to my working at Oracle. I was in development; I'm no longer at Oracle. But, I could do my work faster than everyone else. I would have greatly preferred to have credit for being able to find ways to do the work faster, but the management is blindingly stupid, that when I did the work faster, they assumed I must have been cheating somehow, or I was lying. They believed that I just couldn't have done what I just did as fast as I did, but I did.

If you are really, really good at your job, you can't get credit for doing what you do from stupid, stupid managers. And the manager can resent what you do, if it makes their lackeys look bad by comparison.

So, I did the work fast and just said that it took me longer. Then I used the extra time to work on new skills. I always worked a full week, but took the extra time to do extra things that I did not tell the management I was doing. I was stuck at Oracle at the time, because of other personal issues, so I couldn't leave but had to stick it out.

I was a developer, but I was extremely good at development and in addition I was good at other things like writing documentation, etc. I was asked to write a white paper about my editor. I told the person I sent it to that I spent a week on it, but really it took me two hours one afternoon. Then I worked on bugs the rest of the week.

It's sad when the management of a company is so incompetent, that they cannot even comprehend the differences in the skill sets of different people. I am also female, so the assumption is that I have to be a complete idiot, when really I have an IQ of 140, and the ability to think quickly, design new code overnight in my head, write things in hours that take other people weeks, etc.

Sad place, Oracle. If you have the ability to update your skills, do so, and get out. You won't want to be there in the next few months, it will be a free-for-all in terms of sabotage and dirty-tricks as the incompetent try to keep their jobs and make you lose yours.

From the Dell page:

“I am a millennial. My job requires producing reports and I have 3 peers. We have our own portfolio. Including my boss they are all gen Xers. Let me tell you Boi. I can do what all 3 of my team's one week's worth of work in one day, 2 hours to be exact. Because they do not know how to use excel formula, do not want to learn, and my boss does not know what is excel is to even begin to care. Dell's downfall is you stupid old bois being promoted in and kept around through network a.k.a. kiss assing.”
