The point is that the phones will not be locked by carriers, the e sim will work on any network.
Verizon is already irrelevant. Leadership just doesn't know it yet. Or refuses to believe it.
5 years from now Verizon will be a wholesaling dumb pipe.
All manufacturers should make universal phones especially since consumers are paying for the device now
Not such a big deal since we can always get free SIMs if switching. covenient though
While an eSim does make it easier to switch carriers. Most of the time people are switching carriers for the special phone deals they are offering, like the new line required BOGO. If they are going to keep their current phone the eSim doesn't matter. I don't see this as being as big of a problem as the article wants people to believe.
If a person were to switch from Cablevision to Comcast, would there be a need to buy four new TVs to replace their existing four, or will they work on a different network?
