I am NA ECA covering 3 large enterprise accounts and been pretty successful with them. Being here for a long time (10+ years), I have heard my share of rumors and usually do not panic. I was told today, though, by someone I totally trust in management that if I am looking for a future, I need to think seriously about moving to a hub and trying to get a management position. Basically, it looks like most of the ECA roles will be moved to hubs and ECAs will be forced to apply for their jobs (most likely at lower grade). Apparently there may some possible relocation money, but I could not get that info confirmed. For those that chose not to move, they will need to find another field job like sales or OCS, as the ECA roles will mostly all be at Hubs with telesupport for enterprise customers. I can't see them moving all the ECA roles, but don't know if I want to roll the dice and hope I am one of the untouched ones in the field. I have been here long enough to see rationality being an afterthought in many of these knee jerk reorgs. Good luck to all.

The signs were there since FY15, when EMEA first showed Hub can be done with SC pools. If you’re not managing them yet, it may be too late. Go while you still can - there’s still people out there who value enterprise SC .
Oracle development is what has run everything into the ditch..
I can confirm this as being absolutely true. I was told to consider moving to OCS if I did not want to move to a hub by an HD direct that I am close with.
It was good while it lasted. Well not really, it was good until HD drove sales consulting into a ditch.
Can confirm. Over the last year, they’ve hired hundreds of kids to fill the hubs. The goal is for them to take over as much of the SC work as they possibly can. The field SC role at Oracle is dead.
With MH's announcement on the last earnings call that Cloud revenue would no longer be reported, the Enterprise Cloud Architect role, created just two years ago, is no longer necessary. SC hates sales consulting / cloud architects / pre sales and sees it as just an unnecessary cost.
The idea of MH and SC as CEOs is deranged, neither of them has any clue what a ceo does, and then there’s LE! Oracle is F:ed and it shows
All one of the CEO's knows how to do is cut costs. This is a result of the only way he can run a company, which is right into the ground. He has a reverse midas touch.
Yep, it’s a purposeful strategy of destruction that only the 3 stooges could conceive of because it’s so dumb - just look at HP
This is not a knee jerk reorg. Maybe stupid, but not knee jerk. This has been planned for sometime. If you follow this board, there has been a number of discussions concerning the end of the ECA and the reorg on SE roles into Hub positions. I left at the beginning of the year because I was going to be required to help execute the demise of the ECA role. I was close enough to retirement that I did not have to partipate in killing off the most experienced and skilled technical sales folks. They also happens to be the best paid and oldest. Yes a stupid strategy but not knee jerk, it was planned.
Oracle management is insane. They keep hiring from HP, IBM, Dell/EMC...etc. Should go out and get a real talents from Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, Amazon. I guess because the people at the top wants to bring their buddies from the old dying regime. Time to clean house Oracle BOD.
I saw this happen at HP. Many scrambled to find new jobs instead of relocating.
Stupid is as stupid does and it doesn’t get more stupid than the 3 oracle stooges
If true, it would be yet another example of Oracle following IBM's blueprints, except I don't believe that IBM offered any relocation assistance.
Move to a hub or you are toast.
Hope is a dead end.
Unfortunately what you heard is true. It’s a way to lower their costs and force out the experienced and replace with the class of.
Another example of how oracle tosses out success in favor of certain failure. Hope for the best but plan for the worst. Or vice versa.
